Any ideas on a clean looking, perhaps period, tail trunk for a black California Vintage?

Nothing much better than a Tannat from the Salta region.

I'm a HB guy and have used one of their topcases on every Guzzi and the last two Harleys I owned.

So the first thing I would do would be to look at luggage racks and see what might work.

I don't see the Cal-Vin specifically. Is the Aquila Nera close enough?

This goes back about 15 years. I found a vintage Bates top box on Ebay (cheap) and had painted to match (not cheap). I thought it looked okay and was generally functionable but always thought it looked a little too big. I had to add a metal mounting plate extension to the rear rack so that it was fully secure. I sold the Vintage back in 2013 before a move and have always wished that I kept. I have no regrets about owing a 1400 Eldorado however. Good luck with search.

INDYPIKES:  Very nice paint & striping.  Looks integrated.  And I agree, perhaps a tad large.

KEVIN M:

Rack is, perhaps, not the problem. A simple, smooth, narrow enuf, gloss black case is. Junior 55 looks okay.

Yeah that's the direction I was thinking. I've got a couple of junior cases including a 40L and the discontinued 50L. I used an HB Orbit case on my RK that looked good. I have no idea which might not interfere with the side bags though. Well I'm pretty sure the 40L wouldn't, but past that?!?

Hey Spud, haven't seen you here in a while. I used an old GIVI mono key trunk on my Cal Vin.  Best part about it....... I had it already AND those panniers still opened. Sorry the pic just shows the GIVI plate  : )

I had a large Hepco Becker on my 97 California and the vibration kept breaking the welds on the rack that is between the trunk and the bike luggage rack.I have good luck with Givi .

Here is a pic of the GIVI on mine. Optional extra brake light, lockable with its own baseplate.
