2003 V11 EV Hydro without recalls done
« on: April 17, 2025, 02:54:46 PM »
Actively looking for a V11 California model. The one I thought was promising turned out to be a wet rat with a spanking brand new gauge cluster. LOL.

So I'm back on the hunt. Found another bike, looks very clean and low miles as well (10k) but the hydro valve updates were not done.

Are update parts still available?
Is it worth it?
Convertible to non-hydro?
Worth it?

I have read through some threads regarding the hydro engines and details regarding upgrading are sparce other than discussion of whether or not the work was done.

Not worth it.  Bikes are out there with all the recalls done in the $3,000 +/- range.

I figured, but worth asking.

It would make a fine anchor for a good sized boat.

I understand the conversion to non hydro is not simple. Can't remember why though.

It would be worth either finding out the price of a donor motor, or the recall parts and keeping that in mind, making an offer.

A sorted hydro is so smooth and quiet!
Everyone I ride my T5 after my hydro I have a moment of panic at the clattering

It’s my understanding that many of these hydro motors accumulated thousands of miles without the recall preformed. If the bike could be bought at a cheap enough, buy it and roll the dice, ride it till it breaks then part it out.
Just a thought?

How can you tell if the recall was done or not?

That information is available here on the forum and I’m sure one of the guys that’s dealt with it will chime in and advise.
My 04, that I regret selling, had all three recall done and documented at the dealer where I picked it up. This is probably the best scenario for proof of recalls with the Hydro models.

I have the recall kit, and I would sell it. Or I might be convinced to sell my '03 hydro EVT.  I'm a long way from Texas, but its a fly and ride.

The information held by Moto Guzzi regarding recall completion is notoriously sketchy. Please do not rely on that. Check yourself that the recalls were done.

A well sorted hydro is a thing of beauty. I still miss my 03 aluminum.  Its a shame Guzzi didnt continue with hydraulic lifters. Very smooth and quiet motors
