Guzzi mechanic in Victoria ( Melbourne) Australia
« on: May 09, 2025, 01:58:35 AM »
Hi all, just wondering if anyone can recommend a mechanic who is familiar with Guzzis in Melbourne Australia or Victoria. Im looking at doing a suspension upgrade on the V7. Did some 300km trips and was very fatigued. Very rough over some potholes on the hwy nearly put my spine through my skull. Vibration through the bars gave me some hand numbness ( hanging on for life)  so might leave the V7 for local rides rather than long hwy rides.
Cheers all.

Depends on what you want done,I can hook you up with Peter Roper if you like, but he is winding down his involvement.
His understudy Michael is carrying on, however it is a bit further away than you would probably want.
Most shops are hopeless.

Ah, the old 'my V7 suspension is trying to kill me' post.  There are plenty of aftermarket rear shock options out there but if you want to see a professional then google suspension workshops in Melbourne.  We have places like Promecha, suspensionsrus, and Racecentre who all specialize in that stuff. As far as specialist Guzzi folk see this facebook link for some options https://www.facebook.com/groups/mgcov/posts/6970733512990429/. All these are used by Guzzi club people.  I've had my V9 serviced, and suspension set up by Platinum Motorcycle Repairs.  They did a good job but didn't seem that keen to book me in again when I called them recently.  They did a dyno tune and remapped my bike, but it caused them some hassle.  It might have just been my bike though.

For suspension work I suggest Suspension R Us in Moorabin. They rebuilt the rear suspension on my 2 Breva 1100s and have a good stock of Guzzi shocks and will set up for your needs.

Thanks for all the replies. Once the suspension is setup, a larger touring screen and some cruise control I think I'll be willing to try another 600km round trip tour to NSW border from melb. Last attempt was truly an endurance effort that was exhausting. So to refine suspension or just mod the trailer and transport her up so I can spend my energy on touting the country roads rather than on the commute. Roads get very straight and boring north of Bendigo haha
