Cali 1400 Cam Chain(s) tensioner
«

Hi all
Can someone tell me if the cam chain tensioner is hydraulic or spring, adjustable or non adjustable. I started my bike up last night after a several week sleep and for a couple of seconds she rattled like heck and stopped, bike ran fine for rest of the night and would not do it again when I fired her up this afternoon so this has me thinkin its oil operated??
Thanks

I had the same issue not too long ago.
Disconcerting, for sure!

Yeah for sure
I've had this 1400 for three years now and this is the first time this had happened.
I'll attribute it to be from sitting so long and and all the oil draining out ( leak down ) of the tensioner and back into pan??

I have 31,000 on mine and if it sits a few days, it clatters a little at first. Not more than 3-5 seconds. It's also just the slightest bit bulky for the first mile. Other then that, nothing unusual to report. There are some very high mileage examples around.

My Mandello will do it too, once in a great while. First time when it was fairly new it scared me. It doesn't do it much any more.
