LeMans (or other model's) M8 Bolts
« on: December 12, 2025, 10:32:40 AM »
Hello

I went through a tool box drawer and found these bolts.
But I don't remember where they belong to on my 850 LeMans.
They are M8 and 40 and 35mm long.
The long one has a washer to secure it by bending the corners up to the bolt-head and the side of it touching some fixed part.
The short one is just ordinary, but I think they both belong together somehow.
(Given this strange security-washer it bugs me that I don't remember where they belong).

Any idea?

Greetings
Ralf

The one on the left reminds me of a bolt for the timing chain tensioner. Maybe left overs from a Valtek conversion??

I hate that, but they don't exactly look familiar to me.

Tom H nailed it on that bolt - original fixed timing chain tensioner bolt with lock tab.

Thanks all for the feedback.

I switched out the original tensioner in 1996 - so this is likely the origin of the bolt with the locking washer.
For now I assume the other, shorter bolt is the second tensioner bolt (although I wonder why both would be of different length).

Ralf
