Norge wiring, ports and other dumb questions

Recent owner of a 2007 Norge (Fat Bob's off this forum). Working on adding a Carplay screen to the bike and working on the wiring. Had 1 question on the open ports under the seat. In the picture I'm fairly certain that 2 is the Guzzidiag connector and I believe 3 is the dash connector? What is 1?
Related, I need constant and keyed power. Constant is easy enough, what do people use for keyed power (I'm hoping #1 is keyed power port  )

Final dumb question. Suppose I'll be running wires under the tank. Can you lift the tank a bit without removing other bodywork?

You can and should remove the side panels before lifting the tank because the rear of the tank, hooks into the panels to some degree, it becomes a thing when trying to refit the tank.
The panel(s) are removed by releasing the small bolt at the rear of the panel with a spigot that goes into a rubber bung at the bottom corner. You will benefit by adding some rubber grease to the spigot upon refitment of the panel.
Number 2 plug with the blue black/yellow wiring is the Guzzidiag plug, I’m clueless as to the white one, but you could apply a 12V test lead to the plug and see if it supplies keyed power.
I think plug #1 is an ABS thing, but I don’t know.
If you are going to lift the tank, make sure you release the two bolts that fix the rear of the fairing to the tank, or you’ll break the fairing panel.

Huzo is correct #1 coming from the right side is connector for ABS. I’ll have to look at my 07 to see if I have #2 , I don’t recall it. If you discover purpose let us know. Please.

   On my 1200 S I used a 20 amp,12 volt relay energized from a keyed lighting circuit. The switched circuit is connected to the battery with a 20 amp fuse, the output from the relay goes to 4 fuse box which power the switched accessories such as heated grips, Driving lights and GPS power.

If youre adding a bunch of stuff, your best bet is to add an accessory fuse block, and trigger it by a switched circuit.

FWIW, there is a GPS power port up by the steering head. At least there was on both my Norges, and other CARC bikes. I use it to power my GPS, USB power block, and the LED driving lights. You can buy a plug lead that plugs into it, or NOT spend $20, cut it off and solder straight on. Works great.

Its kind of buried and is best to remove the tank to find it. It's green if I remember correctly. I may have a picture somewhere.

I used the GPS plug to power my wire less charging mount for my phone. It is switched and also IIRC fused at the fuse block. Works great for using my phone as my GPS.

I’d not add additional load to that circuit. Used as a source for switched power to turn a relay on and off sure. Powering auxiliary lights? I’ll pass thanks.

Thanks for the advice (and opinions  ). In my defense, that pic was a bit messy because of extra wires from project laying around but I do like the Thunderbox idea. The switched power function is slick (does it also have constant power available). Future project to clean things up a bit.

Anyway, Carplay mounted. Nice unit, includes 2 cameras. I know people have strong opinions on Carplay on bikes, personally I like it and find it far less distracting than using a phone (plus this way I have my phone on me in case of accident)

I only use it for the small LED's. Works fine. Larger output/Halogen, without a doubt I'd use it to switch the relay. On the Stornello and 1200 Sport, I've run it this way (7 years on Stornello, 5 on 1200 Sport), as the wattage is fractionally small. but on the Norge with it's halogen bulbs on the fork mounted lights, I have it trigger a relay. 

**I just dropped a couple pictures into the AUX lights thread that give a good picture of what the GPS power lead looks like. The picture is from a V7 and in a different location, but the lead is usually the same.

I went with Podofo. They seemed to have the best combo of features, price and warranty (2 years). I had bought a generic unit off AlieExpress for my V7 earlier this year but it started locking up on me during rides, I replaced that with a smaller Podofo as well. So far, so good
