I was asked about how the bags mount so I’ll post about it here.

The dedicated left and right mounting brackets very solidly attach to the frame in 3 places. The saddlebags attach to the mounting brackets in 4 places with the 5th being a plastic ‘lock’. Two sewn in ‘pockets’ for the bracket and in 2 central plastic catches.
The entire system looks to have been very well thought out,. They’re very secure with only the lower front part of the mount being seen with the bags mounted. Well done Piaggio, well done indeed.

If I can find the leather tank cover/mount for the matching tank bag I’ll get that as well. NOS or ‘used’ tank bags are about $200. The leather tank bag also comes with a rain cover and a shoulder strap. But I haven’t found a new or a used mount yet. Without the specific mount, the tank bag can’t be used.

Piaggio also made a matching leather trunk that mounts to the heavy duty luggage rack that’s already installed or it can, apparently mount by replacing the rear seat. But at $1,000 for a 30 liter trunk, I’ll pass.

When needed, I use a water proof Ciro branded duffle type bag that attaches securely using two adjustable ROC-Straps. No muss, no fuss and it’s only on the bike when it’s needed. I’m a big fan of the adjustable ROC Straps and choose them over conventional bungee cords nearly every time.

I’ve only managed about 650 miles on the heavily GTM modified Eldorado. At only 2 1/2 weeks past a full knee replacement, my riding days are still weeks away.

But let me tell you, those were absolutely fantastic 650 miles. I’m so anxious to get Bella out again.

A dear friend and brother will be picking up my Victory Cross Country Tour later this week.

I’m looking forward to a very long relationship with Bella and Betty. Betty being my greatly enhanced 2013 Victory Hard-Ball.

This is the all leather matching Eldorado tank bag I purchased from AF1 Racing. As I posted elsewhere, the leather, the stitching and the hardware are a perfect match for the Eldorado leather saddlebags.

I’m using the mount (2S000038) I purchased from Bill W as mentioned in a previous post. The tank bag (2S000039), cordura and leather I purchased from Bill W is available if anyone needs it.
