Lee Parks question
« on: May 04, 2026, 04:15:22 PM »
I bought a pair of DeerSports from Lee Parks a few months ago. Sizing chart said to buy a Large. Normally I wear an XL, but info on their site said they run large and you probably will buy a smaller size than what you're used to. I have a few hundred miles on them and they're still uncomfortably tight even though they've stretched a bit. I read somewhere that you can soak such gloves in water, put them on and ride until they dry out to get them to fit right. Quite a while ago I emailed Lee Parks and asked if this is OK to do, and I never got a reply. I just emailed him again asking the same question hoping I'll get an answer this time.

Is soaking them in water and riding until they dry an OK thing to do?

Getting the gloves wet, and riding until they are dry is a sure recipe for blisters. The practice with old boots was to take boiling water and momentarily fill them with it. Dumping the boots out after a few seconds and then putting them on with wool socks. If your hands are quite calloused it will work, it will also soak the calluses and soften them. Have you hit the gloves with baseball glove conditioner? That is usually all that I have to do with mine?

Yes, it’s OK to do with deer skin. Deer skin does not get hard when drying out like cowhide will. Actually, Lee parks says that you should wash those gloves occasionally by hand with a mild detergent such as wool light. It works best when you’re in a dry climate as it will dry out fairly quickly as you ride.
