V9 Final Drive-Wheel Confusion
« on: March 05, 2026, 07:14:00 AM »
According to the parts website that I visit, in 2019, two years before the E5s rolled out, the V9s changed their final drive coupling plate from 6 dogs to 5, which is what all the current small blocks have after 2021. I thought they went to 5 the same time as the V7s.

I was looking this up because, as someone pointed out in my V9 Monza thread, the V9 Bobber’s wheel looks an awful lot like an Audace’s, and I had to investigate. The cast spoke design looks the same, but the rims are different—the big blocks have 6x16 rims, while the V9’s rear is 2 inches skinnier at 4x16. The hub bearings are also different sizes (thus the axle is different), and the late big blocks utilize a coupling plate with 5 drive dogs like you see in the current small blocks.

Now, about that 5 dog coupler…can the Audace, Cali, and Eldo wheels fit onto a ‘19+ V9 or ‘21+ V7? No idea, but if so, then my grandma! what a big, fat tire you have.
