suprise RR
« on: March 13, 2026, 11:24:54 AM »
After a couple months on the trickler, my 04 Stone quit on a ride. It showed only 11.6v, rev the engine, no more no less.  I have had several Voltage regulators fail over the 25+ yrs on my FXR. But this was strange.  Working on cleaning all connections which need that.             Checking the web for testing the regulator they all show testing the 3 wire, none show testing the  6 wire.   :undecided:

I returned from a R&R snow birding-fishing S. Padre Is TX.  Now, the not battery is not charging.     :boozing:

I was surprised the V  stayed consistent at 11.6......

Get a new Batt and not the little 20AH, get a 32-35AH U1 group like a lawn mower size. Wouldn't be the 1st batt killed by a tender. My EV sat 6mo & cranked right up, no tender AND it's 10yrs old.

Batteries can be finicky.  Last spring, one of mine was dead slow on the crank and so I got a new battery.
That battery is still sitting on the shelf with that separate acid bottle and the bike is back to behaving itself.

Had two V9's in a row where the battery didn't last six months.

One Harley battery that went seven years in the bike and then four more years in the riding lawnmower.  The replacement YUASA died six weeks later.
