I forgot one that also fit me like a glove; the Fazer FZS600 1998-2003.

yes, and of all things a 93 Daytona.  It was like I was built for it.

I have learned over the years that ergonomics matter.  There's little point in not taking the time to make small adjustments that end up being great for increased comfort and control.

Absolutely! It is amazing how many people that do not even adjust the clutch and brake levers to their body, and just live with awkward operation.

The first time I sat on a Sportster (XLCH - mid 1960s) it just felt right.  Picked up my feet and dropped them naturally on the pegs, same with my hands on the bars.  Mid-control Sportsters have all felt the same way.  I haven't had a chance to try the latest version of that old stalwart.  My Norge was pretty much that same way.  It just feels good to sit on and ride.  My (now gone) Goldwing was the same way.  From day one, I could do IBA rides on her with virtually no modifications (I adjusted the foot pegs and later changed them).  I hated to sell that bike, but age and medical conspired against it's continued use.

The EVO Sportsters make me feel like I am sitting on a low toilet. The 1977 version of my brother, with 18in rear wheel, is more similar to my Roamer, meaning pegs are too far forward but not silly high. I think the versions from the 60s may be even more towards a standard riding position.
