2007 Breva 1100
« on: May 08, 2026, 01:18:21 PM »
Hey guys, new owner here. I've had a Griso 1200 the last few years (hence my screen name) though I recently sold it to pick up this guy. I loved my Griso but it was time for something a bit more comfortable and capable of longer touring. Both the Griso and 1200 Sport are bikes I've wanted to own since I started riding about 13 years ago. With no 1200 sports for sale anywhere near me, I grabbed the next best thing! First impressions are very good. I do like the liveliness of the 1200 8v compared to the 1100 but this is still no slouch. The riding position is great and exactly what I was looking for coming from the Griso. It seems to handle better too even with the squared off tires currently on it.

The previous owner fitted it with the center stand, OEM handguards, OEM heated grips, Heli Riser bars, Puig windscreen, OEM tail rack with bag, and a cat delete from Guzzitech.

Of course it's getting warm out now so the hanguards and screen are off for the moment and I put some sleeker mirrors on it. The Dart flyscreen brackets for the Griso also fit it well enough and I've got both a short and long screen to make use of:

First thing I did was throw a beetle map on it. I'm working on going through all of the fluids and will be fitting new tires this evening. Long term goals are to match the aesthetics of the 1200 sports. I've got KC34 handle bar adapters en route and will someday hopefully be able to find the sport tail cover and headlight fairing. I'm also trying to track down a set of OEM side cases since the bike already has the brackets and hardware to mount them.

I know this isn't a typicall build/restoration post but I wanted someplace to document maintenance and mods for the next owner when I inevitable sell/trade it for my next Guzzi

I've been enjoying getting to know the bike.

-Clutch and front brakes are bled.
-Installed Sport Attack 2 tires front and rear. The ones that came on the bike were pretty squared off so it's handling real nice now.
-Installed MPH Cycles starter relay bypass.
Changed CARC and transmission fluids. Waiting on a filter before I can do the engine oil.

And today I installed a Puig Vision windscreen. I ordered one for the BMW R9T and was able to make it work with some extra hardware I had laying around. Then I spent the last few hours pulling the exhaust off to give it a good sanding and polish. It took some work but the almost 20 years of crud and grime stains are gone! I look forward to seeing them turn gold once I can ride and put some heat through them.

After that ride I decided to work towards doing the valves, spark plugs, air filter, and throttle body adjustment.

Even after flashing a Beetle map when I first got the bike, it was still idling high at about 1,800 rpms and hits a pretty abrupt wall when closing throttle to engine brake. I figured doing all of the above would sort that out until I pulled the tank off. I think this might have had something to do with that:

I have no idea what the hell that is but it was pretty jammed inside the snorkel so I'm thinking the bike should be a bit smoother now  :violent1:

I need a thinner socket to get the inner spark plugs out but in the meantime I installed an Oxford 12v junction box. It just barely clears the seat pan:

Make sure you blow around the plug area with compressed air before removing the plug/s.
I failed to do it once on my Norge and there was a small stone teetering on the brink of falling in…!

Good suggestion! I've got a few sockets getting delivered today so hopefully one of them will fit. I figure I'll also let them soak in some PB Blaster in the meantime since they're looking pretty rusty.
