I had to look that up - but now I want to try it.

Supposedly invented by a Boston bartender around 2007 - so it only took me 20 years to hear of it.

As for prices, look pretty typical for cocktails around here.

Last time we were in NYC for fancy stuff it was more like $30/drink.

I bartended for 20 years, Nightclubs, Resort Restaurants, etc.

This is basically a fancy Manhattan with decent bourbon and a fancy aromatized wine/vermouth.

I would have picked a bourbon with a little less kick.

Interesting. I like both, have both, havent tried together.  I like Barrel proof Bourbon/Rye in my Old Fashioneds and Manhattans, but have yet to use Bookers in any form than neat. Will have to give it a try.

Most people use cheap bottom shelf for a mixed drink, but I've always believed better bourbon makes a better drink.

But I will say that this does NOT make sense as a Guzzi drink............ Bookers is almost impossible to find for less than $100/bottle.  For this to be a REAL Guzzi Drink, I suggest Wild Turkey 101 and Punte Mes.... And if you want the character and flavor of the Bookers, use Old Grand Dad 114............ Both are under $30 a bottle. Old Grand Dad 114 is VERY close to Bookers in flavor, proof and mouth feel.  Any Guzzista can proudly snap their red suspenders with WT101 or OGD114.

I've found a good quality Bourbon/Rye is key for a good Manhattan, but a great vermouth makes it! Must have a Luxardo cherry and a bit of liqueur as well!!

The Bar II Molo on Lake Como had a specialty cocktail called the "Guzzi 1921."  Nothing to brag about, however...

According to google AI:

Combining Booker's Bourbon and Punt e Mes makes for an incredibly bold, rich, and intensely bitter variation of a classic Manhattan cocktail. Because Booker's is uncut and barrel-proof (often well over 125 proof) and Punt e Mes is a highly botanical, bittersweet vermouth amaro, the combination provides a deeply flavorful, robust drink.

The "Moto Guzzi" Cocktail RecipeThis popular cocktail perfectly balances these two heavyweights.

Ingredients:1.5 oz Booker's Bourbon1.5 oz Punt e MesIce (for mixing)Maraschino cherry or orange peel (for garnish)Instructions:Chill your glass: Place a rocks glass in the freezer for about 15 minutes before making the drink.Stir: Fill a mixing glass with ice. Pour in the Booker's and Punt e Mes.Dilute and Chill: Stir continuously for 20 seconds to properly chill and slightly dilute the high-proof spirit.

Booker's starts at $100 and goes on up over  bills.

Why mix such an expensive whiskey?
