I decided I needed a sub-400 lb twin, with a 270 crank.
Say hello to my '26 Aprilia 457 Tuono!
I still have and love my V7 Stone Ten, of course. 2 Italian cousins rest in my garage.
The ergos are a little on the sporty side, but not uncomfortable, and it handles razor sharp. Sounds great too!

I swore I'd never have another chain. And I swore I'd never buy anything but a Guzzi from Aprilia. But that bike and the 660 Tuono is getting under my skin. The seating is too sporty for me, but I've suffered before. It would be just for 150 mile mountain rides and replace a v7.

Looks really nice!  I could see one of those as a "modern" partner to my '76 Honda CB400F!!!  Hmmm...Aprilia/Guzzi dealer is only 9 miles away...

So far, I've taken 3 rides and have 90 miles on it. So.much fun! It is really light and nimble. There are 3 riding modes: Rain, Eco, and Sport. With a full tank in Eco, the fuel guage said 220 miles range. Switched to Sport, said 185. It is real zippy in Sport, but not too sudden or twitchy like some other bikes. You get a cool intake moan that blends with the exhaust note that sounds pretty exotic.
The next day, I had to get all those warning stickers off. I put it in the sun for a few hours, then put the hair dryer to work. Some came off easy and in 1 piece. Others resulted in hundreds of little pieces...took some patience, lol. Then I used Plexus and a microfiber cloth to get all the residue off, followed by an application of Mother's Hydrid wax. Looks righteous now!
I also went into the menu and set the clock, backlight level, and the rev limit warning to 6k for now. The redline is 10.5k.

I assume the 6k rev warning is for break-in?  The "break in" limit on my '76 Honda CB400F when new was "suggested" in the owners manual to be 8000RPM - redline is 10.  My current redline is "Somewhere in the red zone," (between 10-11) and it always gets up there a few times in every ride - at least through the first 2-3 gears!  :)

I really enjoy light bikes/high spinning engines for the narrow twisties and I'll bet that Tuono with 10 more HP than my 400F and slightly less weight is loads of fun!!!

I sat on one at a dealer yesterday, the ergonomics were better than I expected.  Have fun.

I've got an 80+year old friend that has been riding forever, last year bought a 457 and loves it.  While the smaller displacement bikes are very capable of long distance runs they sure are nice for short, a couple hour, jaunts of beboppin' around and easy on fuel.  Enjoy!

I had the pleasure of spending time at the Norton rally with my Ducati/BMW/Norton/KTM/former Moto Guzzi riding buddy on Thursday.  He claims BMW is coming out with a 450 adventure bike next year.

You can always slap some Moto Guzzi stickers on it...

Another new small bike I would seriously look at, ASSUMING it's real, is one of these (the unfaired version).  Even if it does exist it probably won't be sold in the UK...
