I have been riding a 2023 V7 Special for the last two years in all seasons and weather, and I have been riding a 2021 V9 Bobber for over a year in all seasons and weather.
My observations are that the Bobber seems to have more torque down low, it's faster off the line and the gear ratios seem to be shorter. My V7's gear ratios appear to be taller, and the engine is a bit more subdued off the line. The V7 is heavier, but I really feel that the engine is tuned more towards cruising with less torque available off the line.
This probably lines up with the Bobber being a more "sportier" type of bike?
Second Observation is a mechanical one. My V7's valves make considerably more noise than my V9's valves. Start-up is about the same, but after a ride when everything is warmed up, the valves on the V7 are just noisier. Not in a bad way, just much more valve train sound than the Bobber which is very quiet.
Both bikes have been serviced by the same dealer, and I've double-checked the valve clearances and made sure that they are spot-on according to the book.
So is this just an anomaly found in different 853cc Guzzi engines? Should I be concerned? The V7 has over 9,000 miles on the clock and the Bobber over 4,000 in case that makes a difference.
