1400 Police Highway Bars
« on: July 09, 2026, 10:16:47 AM »
Has anyone ever installed the California 1400 Police front highway bars on their 1400? They’re beefier, extend out farther and they have a welded in ‘shelf’ to mount a siren etc. The item numbers are: 2B003538 and 2B003539.

I could be wrong but the OEM California 1400, as well as the Hepco-Becker front highway bars, look tucked in so much as to be more decorative than functional.

You might try a dealer in EU, I don't think they sold to the police here in USA. Like TLM in Netherlands or Augo in Mandello

The stock bars are mainly for protecting the engine, and they do a excellent job of it ( ask me how I know  )

I can see you’re 100% correct. I have the Hepco-Becker highway bars on my Eldorado. Maybe they’re closer to the engine than the OEM California Touring Highway bars. When I can get out to the garage I’ll measure the H-B bars for how far they are from the engine case. I can then compare that to the OEM CA Touring bars.

The stock CA 1400 Touring bars are over $400 each and the Police version is around $475 each.

From the frame rail to the outside edge of the Hepco & Becker front highway bars is about 9”.

Can someone please measure what the OEM California Touring bars measure?

The H&B highway bars measure the same from the frame rail to the outside of the bar as the OEM California Touring bars.

Next up, try to get that same measurement of the OEM Police Highway bars for the CA 1400.

The Police highway bars for the 1400’s measure about 12” from the mounts outward to the bars. So, they extend out an additional 3” compared to the standard 1400 highway bars from Moto Guzzi or H&B.
Plus they have a welded in shelf/mount for a siren.

It looks like I may have found a set at a semi reasonable price. If so, I’ll get them ordered and once installed, I’ll post comparison photos.

Curtis Harper confirmed the Police bars fit on all the 1400 frames. He took my order for the RH bar today and confirmed it should take 4 to 6 weeks for it to deliver.

Several months ago, I bought the Eldorado leather saddlebag mounts from him. Those mounts have been NLA for years. I was grateful Curtis came up with a set.

It would be quite unusual for any USA dealer to have the Police highway bars in stock since no one in the USA used CA 1400 Police bikes.

Yesterday I ordered the LH side from an eBay seller. Now we’ll see which side gets here first.
I’ll post pictures when one shows up.

Looking down the bikes centerline, the OEM & H&B highway bars are nearly centered on the floorboards. The Police bars being extended outward 3” should accomplish my goal of better foot and bike protection in a tip over.

The left side Police bar was just delivered by DHL. In a word: LOVE it. It looks to do exactly what I want it to and it will look awesome doing so. I'm not really able to get down on the garage floor and exchange it for the H&B bar at this time. Too soon after left knee replacement. But, holding it in place, the Police highway bar extends out further than the floorboard which is exactly what I was going for.

The eBay seller I bought it from has two left when I looked last night. Item number: 2B003539. By the time the right side gets here that I ordered from Harpers, I should be ready to install them both. I can't wait to get them installed and take pictures to post.
