2006 Breva 1100 questions
« on: September 04, 2026, 08:47:35 PM »
Three questions after looking at specs online:

1. Can you lower it in rear without affecting the CARC integrity?
2. If so, is it any easier to get off the side stand or harder getting it on the center stand?
3. Any known "gotchas" on a bike with 25K miles besides making sure the gauge cluster works properly?

Bike in question is less than 100 miles from me.  When the 1200 Sport came out I sat on one at a dealer and found it very hard to get off side stand.

Thanks,

OC1

I don’t know if it’s possible to lower the Breva significantly in the rear end. I think not other than reducing the pre load and operating the shock closer to its compressed limit on the damper rod.
Lowering the bike will always make it sit straighter on the side stand and harder to some degree to get on the centrestand, there are ways to mitigate the problem on the centre stand issue.
I have posted several times, the service schedule that catches every conceivable issue that you will face.
These bikes are notorious for poor greasing at the factory, but not hard to remedy if you want to.
The issues and fixes are well documented on these pages.
The 1100 2 valve motor is very much a known quantity and has the reputation of being a virtual rock of Gibraltar reliability and longevity wise, there are no known deal breaker type issues with them.
Suffice to say on the CARC integrity issue,  the straighter you can get the drive shaft to the gearbox output shaft, the less work the UJ has to do, therefore the more trouble free you can expect it to perform.

The early 07 Norge had unacceptable suspension and I assume it was the same with the Breva. I upgraded the suspension on my 07 but that of course is a personal issue but agree with Huzo, I wouldn't entertain lowering the suspension.

I've never had an issue with getting it on the center stand, certainly way easier than my CX.

The gauge cluster is the biggest concern and I don't know how you could tell if it's compromised but ask the owner how he used the bike for those 25K miles. Lot's of high speed road trips in driving rain would be a concern but it all depends on how much he is asking for the bike. The gauges on my Norge went at 55K but Charlie had a gauge for $200 bucks.
