I've just fitted a set of Moto Spezial Verlicchi style swan neck bars to my LM2. I can't find any reference to the torque settings for the 3 socket head bolts which clamp the mounting bracket to the fork and also clamp the swan neck bars in place, on each side. The bolts are M6 8.8 and the mount is alloy.
Checking out engineering sites on the Web indicates about 10-12nm torque for this bolt.
I have sleeved the alloy mounts fromm 38mm to 35mm to fit the fork diameter and they have been longitudinal slotted.
I started torquing up to 12nm but even at 16nm I had minimal movement of the mount around the fork using force and have settled on 20nm to prevent any movement. This however according to all the Web sites I've looked at appears excessive for an 8.8 bolt. I'm wondering if I should replace the bolts with 12.9 items as 20nm is within their range.
Thoughts?
