Bought my silver 08 Norge last August and quickly put 1500 miles on it before end of November.  Tore it down this winter as I'm more of a fan of black than silver.  Took time to make reliability improvements, needed maintenance and overall becoming familiar with the bike mechanically.  StartusInteruptus; Metal fuel filter, gearbox and transmission oil, air filter, rotor buttons cleaned, rear pads, canisterctomy then placed an accessory fuse block where the canister was, cut down the windshield a bit, plugs, valves adjusted, dielectric grease in many connectors, 12 volt outlet left dash, USB outlet right dash.  I'm sure I'm forgetting something.  Oh yeah, 16 pieces of body work painted solid gloss black!

I never really cared for how the black (midnight blue?) first gens had the metal panels near each foot painted silver, so I opted to color match those as well.  It was a ton of work to color change as I'm OCD on tearing each and every piece down to its bare self.  Then full wet sand and prep for paint.  I'm not set up to paint anymore, so had a friend who owns/operates a body shop do it.  Got the parts home, reassembled and then nib sanded and polished everything.

I'm really thrilled with how it turned out. A shake down run last weekend of 220 miles and relaxed run this morning of 145. Only a couple minor tweaks left and I'll call it DONE!

Now to plan a real multi-day trip.  Cheers!

That looks great. I like the Red/White/Green stripe.  :thumb:

...and the black mirrors... and I think you blacked out some small bits too.

Nice! A lot of the same things I've done to mine, except the painting, over the course of 6 years of ownership instead of all at once. Enjoy!
