2008 BREVA TALL/TOURING WINSHIELD
« on: November 26, 2015, 10:44:49 AM »
Hey Folks,
Went for a pretty long ride the other day and by the time I got home, I could hardly hold my head up to watch TV.  The Breva and I are new to each other and all my recent rides have had pretty decent fairing windshield combos.  I know I'm out of shape but figure its easier to get a tall windshield than to whip myself into shape.  I know this topic has been visited before but I was never able to get a definitive answer.  It seems that options are somewhat limited as Givi has discontinued models that work with the "Baby Breva" and National doesn't show anything that works for the BB but some have suggested that the F-16 Touring will work with some minor mods but don't provide any insight to what those mods might be.  Don't want to spend $300 for the MG Touring screen but I certainly want something better than the clear guage cover that currently adorns my headlight.  Any suggestion would greatly be appreciated.
Happy Thanksgiving,   Tim

I used to have a 2007 Breva 750cc and when I purchased the bike, it had a MG touring windshield already installed.  That shield produced an enormous amount of buffeting so I removed it.  I replaced it with a small Givi cafe fairing (no longer available) and it did a great job of keeping the wind pressure off of my chest and produced a clean air stream around my body & helmet with zero buffeting.
I sold the Breva due to having to stop riding for over two years due to health problems but my overall health did a 180 degree turn and I was able to safely ride again.  I liked the Breva very much but couldn't find one that was anywhere near as clean as the one that I had sold.  Fortunately, I found a very clean, well sorted V7 Classic that was nearby and bought it.  It also had the MG touring shield mounted and again, I couldn't stand to ride behind it due to the excessive buffeting.  I attempted to find the model of Givi that I had on the Breva but it and all the other similar Givi models were out of production so I found a cheap EMGO fairing on Ebay for around $60 and modified the not-so-good mounting hardware that came with it and it works as well as the Givi that I had on the Breva.

If your primary purpose for adding a shield is to stop/reduce the wind pressure on your chest, you may want to consider adding a small cafe fairing.  This solution has worked well for me with both of the V7's that I've owned.
If you don't want to go the cafe fairing route, Dart makes a couple of small screens that will reduce that wind pressure (but they won't divert as much wind as a cafe fairing).

Hi, I have a national cycle screen on my Breva 750. Brilliant and it covers the hands. It may be too expensive however unless you can find one secondhand.

I just Googled a picture of the Givi A770 and that's the one that I had on my Breva that I wrote about in my post above.  Too bad that they quit making them.

I'm in a similar situation. My '06 Breva 1100 has the MG windshield. It is a tortuous device. The buffeting is tremendous and I have removed it. I've also considered mounting my Dart flyscreen (Triumph Bonneville version), but haven't gotten around to making brackets. And I've also thought about trying to fit the Parabellum Scout that I have in my basement, but that would require a lot of fiberglass cutting (gas tank obstructions plus the oddly shaped Breva headlight).

Parabellum does sell a windshield (Sport Screen?). I have read that it works well but that it might look like a barn door. Are there any users out there?

I bought a Memphis Shades Big Shot from a board member that had been modified to fit the B11, just have to ream the holes out a bit. It is a small improvement over the  factory shield but not much. I am going to try the Parabellum, that guy knows what he is doing, I had the Scout with the tall shield on a Hinckley Bonnie and it worked wonders with the buffeting.

The OP posted that he has a "Baby Breva" (750cc Breva); not the Breva 1100

Would love the Givi 755 but as stated discontinued and unable to locate any NOS.  It would give me similar coverage that my factory Ducati MS provided.  Don't want a "barn door" but a sport touring set up would be good.  Anyone tried and F16 Touring.  On my research one poster said he ordered one and returned because he thought it wouldn't work while another said he managed to modify it.
Thanks, Tim

I'm in the same boat as the op. I'd like some thing bigger for my baby Breva but all the givii's that I liked are discontinued. There is a white Griso for sale in the mgnoc classifieds that has the fairing I like. Anyone have a similar one or know where to get one ?
