NGC~ New "small block"
« on: April 19, 2015, 12:19:23 PM »
Just traded my Silverwing scooter for a new CB300F. Only the 50 mile ride home to go on; seems pretty lively for 287ccs! Have a fly-screen and inch risers on order. May need to lower pegs also?? Hopefully, it will be easy to get on and off my hitch rack?

More later if it is worth mentioning???

Little bikes are fun.  At under 350 lbs, that could be a ton of fun in the twisties.
When the Brussels sprout fails to venture from its lair, it is time to roll a beaver up a grassy slope.

That's what I was thinking.
And here is what I'm thinking:

After readingthe press release one would believe the CB300F is a 300cc four.
It's almost like they don't want to tell you it's a twin.

They may not want to tell you a twin, since it's a single.   ;)

When I took a GB500 for a test ride I thought it was a bit buzzy for a twin (I saw the twin exhaust and made assumptions having been out of the biking loop for a couple years). A bit later I found out it was a single. Oiy! Brand new they were a bit pricy so I deferred. Later on, I had no money so it was moot. But oh man, that would have been a keeper.

Oh yeah, I have a project Honda XR250R here that's a four valve single with two exhaust head pipes.  Pretty strange, but not so rare.  Not too different from a WWII V-12 airplane engine with 24 exhaust ports.

My MZ single has 3 intake valves, and 2 exhaust valves with two head pipes. In racing tune, they do 75-80 hp on the dyno.. :o
It's a pleasant enough engine, but lacks the character of a Guzzi..

I had the 400. Was actually a better motor than the 500. Nice bike on the open road, where the wind eased the load on the arms a bit.  Around town it was a bit awkward with the clip-ons and rear-sets.  Had to sell it when my shoulders packed up. :'(

The Breva was what replaced it when I had the shoulders sorted. ;-T
