Petcock Leak

Petcock Leak, but not in the usual manner.
Leak at the two washers between the petcock and the tank. There's two washers because without two, the valve isn't facing the outside. I.e. the lever is facing inside, under the tank.
Apparently the second washer wasn't gasoline proof, and started leaking (took a year+). I could go get another washer, perhaps a teflon one, but I'm looking for a better answer.
Bike is a 1965 Gilera, and the petcock is NOS for Bultaco.

Greetings Sign, go get you some aluminum washers and do the same thing. The aluminum seem to deform a little better and will seal to each other . They are a little more forgiving and will allow positioning of that petcock. Good hardware store should have them,or a bike shop. Ask for Aluminum crush washers.

Paul,
Thanks. That might work out better than a Teflon washer.
I'm accustomed to copper crush washers. Do you think Al is a better choice here?
Joe
P.S. The bottom washer is Teflon, and bonded to the petcock, so that one is a part of the mix until I start ripping things up.

Sign, The aluminum is softer than copper and will deform easier to seal .
