Footpegs Springs (Grrh!)

Okay, what's the trick?

I swapped out the front foot pegs on my Norge, and for the life of me I cannot reinstall the d#%* springs. I think I need some sort of cupped or bent tool to jam behind and under the spring to pull it away from the bike to be able to slide the pin through it.

Any advice?

I just swapped on Goldwing pegs on the Stelvio (about an inch lower, longer, wider, etc.) and did not have any issues.

I started the pin through the front tang then pushed down on the spring to align it and pushed the pin in the rest of the way.  A little wiggling of the peg made everything line up.  In other words, put the spring into the slots - since it is uncompressed, it will be sticking up significantly.  Start the pin then push the spring down in between the peg tangs, compressing it.  Slide the pint he rest of the way through.

As I recall you just assemble the peg with the spring in it and push the pin through while holding tension against the back side of the spring into a detent and your in.  You do need to hold your tongue just right though... ;)

A bit difficult to explain, I'll take a shot of the Stelvio peg spring in the morning and post it for you.

I'm going to attempt to post one more time.  Make sure the dowel will fit into the foot peg mount.  Hold the spring in place using the wooden dowel to keep things aligned.  Hold the peg in the mount and tap the pin through, displacing the wooden dowel.  It works for me.
