San Diego - woman chases motorcyclist, runs him over
« on: June 05, 2015, 02:10:34 PM »
Ducati content, actually. Apparently he expressed his opinion of her driving with his boot on her car, and she chased him across an interchange, hit him and pushed him for a long ways, then ran him over when he went down.

She may be charged with murder, we'll see. Internet gossip says she's a head case and those who know her are surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Some of us are wondering why he didn't outrun her, but it's too late to ask him that. Google Darla Renee Jackson if you want to read the opinions and reports.

If I was her lawyer, I'd be advising her to plea bargain to a lesser sentence. Or say she was trying to read his license plate. She's in deep trouble regardless.

So anyway, in another thread I asked you guys to remind me why we don't do highway confrontations anymore. I think this is the reason.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Murder one.  She should do the full count, no possibility of parole.
A car can be just as much weapon as a gun or knife.

Saw that a couple of days ago on the Ducati Monster Forum - sad. Hope they throw the book at her.

And a day or two later, this guy in a BMW purposely hit someone wearing a Go Pro:

No matter who's at fault, don't get in an argument with a car/truck driver unless you can get away no matter what when you are on a MC or scooter.  I've had a few instances where if I had a gun I would have shot at them.  :copcar:  Just avoid them.  :thumb:

I hate these kind of stories, I'm constantly shaking my finger at people texting while driving, had some harsh words with a few of them.  I live in So Cal, lots of traffic and crazy drivers who need nothing else to distract them but the texting goes on.  I also drive for a living and see it all the time, drives me bananas!  But after reading this I think I'll just move on and try and keep clear of the idiots!

Norm,
I had not heard that he had put a boot into her car... still, running him down...?     Holy crap.

As Kris has mentioned, I will wave a finger (index) at them or point to my mirror to let someone know that they need to watch their mirrors but never kick a friggin' car... Geezus.

Rest In Peace young man, hope she gets the book tossed up her ass...

Best,

Situation awareness. Your situation is that you're on a motorcycle and if as reported, he kicked her car he forgot one thing, the person with the biggest toys wins. It isn't worth getting worked up over idiots driving sleds. Aren't they already paying dearly by having to be confined in the thing?

If her lawyer is smart, he/she drags out the WACO videos, the stories about the guy being dragged out of his SUV in New York and being killed.

If the District Attorney is smarter, they show "On any Sunday".

A real shame but all he had to do was go the other way and ignore the idiot. Goes to show, you never know who that person in the car is or what they will do.

She was just a Motorcycle Hater
Quote
Bikers and Navy sailors packed a Chula Vista courtroom Tuesday to watch as a sobbing 25-year-old woman was ordered held on $1 million bail for hitting and killing a Navy chief petty officer riding a motorcycle in what prosecutors called a fit of road rage.
Quote
Authorities say Jackson chased down Buob, riding his red Ducati motorcycle, down Interstate 5 south of San Diego before hitting and pushing him from behind on Route 54 for some 300 feet, eventually running over and killing the Navy special operations officer.

Two restraining orders taken out against her by her ex-boyfriends.

Guess what for....and yes it does involve a car

First to note. I wholly support the legalizing of or even simply the non-criminalizing of lane splitting.

That said, and as being a serial lane-splitter, I was in California quite recently. Having covered great areas of; LA, Orange and San Diego counties doing things in ways with folks, I was shocked, shocked I say to note the current exhibitions of lane splitting.

Commonly seeing splitting occurring while ambient speeds were already exceeding the speed limit was rampant.
Splitting in cases where there were decent gaps to change lanes with mere seconds of waiting required were equally rampant.
Blatant disregard for the reaction-effects of recently split past cars was disconcerting.

In short, having a distinct participation level awareness of splitting practices of a decade ago, removing myself and not noting the evolutionary regression of responsibility in splitting and returning to see what the practice presents as now - I truly am shocked by the behavior.

Me, I hope this gal burns as any other pre-meditated murderer should (though; California, female, mother, etc... I doubt she will) I did, myself experience more than dismay at the position that several motorcyclists put me into in having to react to their particular splitting practices once they were past not to mention feeling the need to anticipate their moto-madness should I chance to see them in a mirror.

Judgement judgement judgement. In this day and age I do not even even shoot the middle finger to anybody at anytime. You just never know anymore what kind of response is waiting for you regardless of how justified you may feel to shoot the bird, boot the car or something offensive retaliating action.
If what she had done, deserved a "boot" to the side of the car maybe pulling over calling 911 and then follow her until the LEO shows up. Yes we all agree she hopefully will spend some serious time in the big house but what started it was the boot to the car. The M/Cist was alive and well before he booted and that is where he crossed the line and put himself at risk.
I put up a video a month ago of a guy who booted a car and he went down big time and the SUV he booted did not cause the biker to wreck. The biker literally booted himself into a curb on a hwy.  What are people thinking when they risk escalating consequences or just flat out causing oneself a wreck. Youtube is full of videos of people wrecking themselves in attempted road rage incidents.... not accidents.  And then throw in all those who retaliated like this woman and you end up with lots of statistics that need not be added to the books.

A few years ago passed a guy in a car on a 2 lane road with curves on my MC.   I was riding @ 65 mph and I look in my mirror and he's right on my butt!  I could see his rage in my rear view mirrors apparently just because I passed him.  I kept my same speed no matter the curves in the road.  He was still right behind me.  Then we came up to a kink in the road.........I go thru it @ 65....I look in my rear view mirror and he's gone!  Figure he didn't make the kink and ended up in the creek/trees on the right side of the road.  Had no pity for him.

Yeah, happened about a mile from me.  Go by there every day.  Cops arrested her on the spot because witnesses said she deliberately ran him down.  Large motorcycle rally was held last week.  That chick is only 25 years old and her life is ruined.  She's a hothead, according to friends and relatives and prone to violence.  Tragedy all the way around, that being said, don't mess with cars, no matter what they do.  Hell, I've had 'em give me the finger for going 60 at rush hour!

Not even playing cool is a guarantee any more.
A friend and I were riding in weekend tourist traffic on a winding two lane on the east side of Mt. St. Helens.  Due to the curves and tail gating, traffic was about 30 to 35 mph.  Buddy passed a mid sized sedan with a family in it but I held back due to oncoming traffic.  Driver of the sedan jumped when the motor went by him, then looked at me for several seconds in his rear view mirror and began motioning me to pass.  Something caused me to hang back.

He motioned me to pass several times, a few of which were obviously not safe.  I began dropping back because of concerns about his intent.  After a couple of minutes he popped his hand up through the sunroof, flipping me the bird, and locked up his brakes to a full stop a second later.

There were enough cars right behind me to make it pretty scary but I got off the pavement and let a couple go by.  The first driver had evidently been watching the situation because he began honking his horn continuously, and the fellow got into motion after a few seconds.

When the other rider learned what had happened he was shocked.  To him it had appeared to be a normal, quite safe passing situation.  My impression ever since has been if I had tried to go around the fellow he'd have held me in the left lane until oncoming traffic forced me back, then he might even have tried to block me from returning to the right lane.  And I'd sure not have wanted to out run him and pull back into his lane with him behind me!

Goes to show, you never know who that person in the car is or what they will do.

Years ago I got sideswiped by a preacher rapidly backing up his car on a one way street. The GD liar told the cops that I hit him and of course they didn't believe me so I received the ticket.

Sadly, traffic school is not appreciated and even hated by the majority of the population.  As exhibited here, it is difficult to supply driving pointers outside of the classroom.

People in cars take all their frustrations out on others for everything that happened to them today or this week or their whole life that they don't like.  Their car makes them powerful and dangerous, and they take advantage of it.

You can't fight it, not till they get out.

It's like you're walking on the sidewalk.   And there's a 6'6" 325 pound NFL linebacker who can run a 4.4 forty, and he's got body armor and a helmet and spiked gloves, and a bowie knife in one hand and a machine pistol in the other.   And you're 5'4", MAYBE faster than he is, and you're naked and unarmed.

And he pushes you off the sidewalk and says "Out of my way, punk!" and shoots you the bird.   What are you going to do? ....  Yes, we all would.  And it would be just as wise to do that on a motorcycle .....

Living 25 miles North of the Big Apple (NYC), see the road rage crap consistently..and was once nearly forced off the road by a lunatic on the Palidsades interstate parkway (PIP) No harm done to me or the bike thanks to God...but it was really close..

Even happens in Europe, where filtering is legal, accepted, and expected. I was on the Costa Almafi in a driving rain a few weeks ago, which, if you've not been, is a very congested and windy two-way road that's barely one and a half lanes wide at best. If you don't overtake slower traffic, you'll be mired for hours. But the Fiat Punto driver ahead of me would have none of it. On several occasions, he'd drift into the oncoming lane as I was attempting to go around him, trying to run me off the road. Then, as I was preparing to overtake him again, he slammed on his brakes as traffic was approaching and stopped right now. Thank goodness for ABS. I've never stopped so damn hard in my life.
