Tornado and weather
« on: June 05, 2015, 12:07:54 PM »
A couple of tornadoes touched down about 2 miles northeast of here, around 5pm yesterday. Destroyed two or three houses and damaged a dozen. Violent thunderstorms all evening and forecast all through today. Flash flood warning over the entire region through 10pm.

Pretty exciting but no riding -- perhaps no driving either. I'm going to get a little work done and shut down the computers before we're at risk of power outage . . .  May spend the rest of the day just tinkering in the garage.

Difference between Colorado and Oklahoma , when the sirens blow we go outside to watch the tornado . HA !

When the siren blew in Iowa @ the `99 MGNOC National, I wondered what it was for and why others were running around.    Being from Californy at the time I had no clue.  Then when our tent disappeared 'cause I didn't bother to stake it down...............luckily it stopped rolling like a tumbleweed @ the county fairground  cyclone fence.

Don't let these guys fool ya.  When big weather is brewing we all keep an eye on the sky or these days the radar app on the phone.  At least it's stopped raining in Texas.

Across the Yellowstone river from our ranch, just inside the park boundary, was an iron mountain known as electric peak.  When the t-storms came we'd climb onto the roof with snacks and lean against the chimney to watch the show.

Well lucky you, Rk, in `01 my wife got struck by lightning on the back of our Convert. between Fallon & Austin, Nv. on Hwy 50.  I knew it was a close call but not THAT close until we stopped for gas @ Austin.   She was afraid @ the time if we stopped we might get hit again.  Her neck has not been the same since, let alone her memory.   Figure if she didn't have a full coverage helmet on with the lense down it would have been much worse.   We still have her helmet and you can see where the lightning hit her.

Yea high and dry in the hammock, but I did check the radar.  Decided to stay put since a small stream was forming between me and the pavillion.
