Noisy clutch?
« on: June 16, 2015, 05:10:02 PM »
Get a pretty regular,
Fairly loud "tapping" from gearbox at idle, in neutral,
With clutch engaged. Pull the lever, goes away. Normal?

Sorry for what may seem to be stupid questions,
Just trying to get a feel for "normal"
On a Guzzi.

Also,
At Idle and just off,
Sometimes.
I'm getting a
Pretty strong, irregular vibration through the pegs, accompanied by a
Slight "growly" noise from down low in the bike... Gearbox area it seems. Not always.

The dumb queries will stop eventually,
I promise.

Old enough to say I've done it, young enough to do it again.

Could be normal.

My V11 Scura gave me no clutch problems but one individual heard the clutch & said "thats f*cked!". It was very noisy.

If it performs fine I'd say it's normal, get used to it & listen for any changes  :undecided:

What model is this one?
850 T3
850 LeMans killer goose or somesutch I’m told
850 LeMans
850 LeMans II (I've butchered it by fitting a round headlight & removing the front faring.)
SP1000 Stucchi
V11 Ballabio
V7 Sport (needs a little work)

Check for an exhaust pipe touching the frame or stand. Makes a sound like that if it's close enough.

Could be the thrust bearing....is the clutch arm adjusted so it is not running on that bearing??? if it has been, it could be on the way out... Warwick :)

These new V7's make noise in neutral with the clutch disengaged. Opposite of the dual plate rattle.

Worry less, ride more!

Unlikely to be anything serious. Probably just backlash due to the uneven idle. Once it's trimmed itself up it'll probably be fine when warm.
