Be careful if you ride RT 250 VA/WV
« on: June 19, 2015, 07:04:17 PM »
Be careful if you ride rt 250 from West Augusta towards WV.  Looks like it's road patching time.  Lots of loose gravel, oil, and chips.   Should be ok in a few weeks,  but this past week it was nasty.

We used it on our way from Lynchburg towards Weirton, WV.
We did 1200 miles for Tues/Wed/Thurs.  Weirton, WV to Richmond, VA on the 1st day.  Richmond to Currituck, NC for lunch on the 2nd day. After lunch we headed west to Lynchburg, VA for the 2nd night.   3rd day was Lynchburg back to the homestead!

If you want to treat yourself special in Lynchburg spend the night at the old Craddock Terry Shoe Factory Hotel.

This is a former shoe factory and now is a fancy smansy hotel.  They also have a kick ass pizza restaurant/brew pub.

Howard R. and Tom S. were telling me about the extensive tar and chip work on 250 at the Cass BMW Rally over Memorial Day weekend. They even had the "pleasure" of riding it in the fog!

We rode 250 across WV last fall. The fracking trucks have torn up all of the pavement from Fairmont west to Moundsville. This used to be a blast on a sport bike. No more. Now its dual sport territory.

I had even mounted up my GoPro for the twisties of the various parts of 250...that was a waste!   Crawling around downhill switchbacks covered in gravel.  Sheez.  33 would have been a better choice this trip.  The Dayton, VA to Sugar Grove, WV via 257 to 924 to 25 route is pretty cool also.   Small road, but newish pavement.
