EV wheel questions

I have a 2004 EV. Touring. It has the tubeless rims that were chromed. The chrome is flaking and loos terrible. My thought was to pull the wheels, disassemble them, have the rims sandblasted and powder coated silver. Can anyone way in on this idea. I need some good advise.

If you are going to strip them anyway why not get them re-chromed. But this time get the electroplater to put on a layer of copper then nickel first. No more rust if done well.
(Don't forget to make careful note of the spoke pattern before dis-assembly)

Not sure how sand blasting hard chrome on soft aluminum will work out.

And experience. That comes from poor judgement.
