I will apologize in advance, so I am sorry.

Meh.

That front cylinder looks like a real good candidate for hydraulic lock on start up.....but I'm sure they've already taken care of that.

School me.  Why hydro lock?

Fluid slipping past a downward facing piston's rings to get caught in the compression cycle and finding itself un-compressable. Takes a couple of somethin's tripping over a couple of wear/use scenarios to occur... But, occur it does from time to time.

Seems like I heard about well worn flyin' bricks sitting hot on side stands offering this up though could just have been bench gas or social media pollution being spread.

They have a "total loss" oiling system that drops the excess oil down a tube and on to the ground.

Seriously though,  how did those WW11 radial engines get around the problem?

SOP on a radial is to pull the prop through by hand for as many blades as there are cylinders if it has been sitting for a length of time. If there is a hydraulic lock, pull a plug and drain the oil out of the cylinder. Failure to do this will end up in a bent rod.

I guess what I was getting at was, here is a small company in France creatively using an unusual engine layout.  Guzzi could do something similar, after all, they have built just about every engine configuation since 1921.

A flat twin like this, an L-twin, a laydown triple - there are lots of ways they could retain their reputation for building funky, durable bikes while building something that would satisfy emissions requirements.

Personally, I would like to see a 650cc laydown, 4 valve OHC single, about 50HP, standard riding position and with a little more ground clearance than the NF, and perhaps a bash plate.  Naturally, it would have to have a whacking great external flywheel, with the emphasis on torque, not revs.  Yes, a Nuovo Nuovo Falcone.  Two or three of us might buy one.......

Last paragraph almost describes my NC 700x.

Steampunk motorcycle.

I was waiting for Penderic  to uptake on the steam punk theme _ far more funny than I.
 But as it goes:
