Shout Out to Beetle
« on: July 20, 2015, 10:19:19 AM »
Awhile back I sort of highjacked a thread started by Norge Pilot praising the latest map for the 8V Norge.  With the help of Pete and a number of patient board members I sorted out my bike both running and at the same time dialing in the Matris suspension.
I would like to say first that the latest MAP is fantastic!  In a mixed relaxed two lane meandering and a freeway blitz I returned a mileage of 48mpg.  The only thing I did was set C O trim to +3.  Response is crisp and instant and the bike is smooth.

As far a the Matris suspension goes it took some fiddleing but I got what I wanted.  I wanted relaxed control and great bump absorption.   I wanted the suspension not to be a factor for long days on the road.  I got all of that with handling to boot.

  Happy Camper!

Wow, I've read so much about Beetle's maps  - now really want to get hold of one for my 2010 Griso 8V (Termi pipe).

Beetle, if you read this, please get in touch!

Paul.

Waltr,

How happy are you with the front forks after installing the Matris fork kit?  I did do this upgrade also and I was looking to get rid of the excessive fork dive on light to heavy braking. Yes, it is a little bit better due to the stiffer springs, but still not right. I'm now wondering if I need to go up to 15 wt fork oil? I do believe the front brakes are too grabby, which causes the front end to dive too much. I have ordered a different set of front brake pads, hopefully they will be more forgiving than the Brembo HH brake pads that came stock.  Whoa, maybe I should of just sent the front forks off to a suspension expert as the Matris kit was kinda expensive.

Thoughts,

Mike

Mike,

I just installed the Matris fork kit in my Griso. Best money I've ever spent. Totally transformed the front end.

You can make anything fly if you put enough power on it. It's going to take a lot of power..

Mike,  I would not change the fluid in the forks.  If you are concerned about dive I would do the rear shock also.  The front and rear need to work together.  This is my opinion and preference but I would have Matris build the rear shock with the adjustor allowing the full 9mm to be reduced.  If you want call me  and I can explain what to order.
