who is buying the Audace?
« on: August 09, 2015, 12:38:40 PM »
All,
http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/2016-moto-guzzi-audace-walkaround

Watching the arrival with keen interest.  Ewan McGregor likes them.  Galuzzi designed it.

I think the new Audace is the only modern (emphasis on recent( Moto Guzzi bike made that rivals my 2012 V7R in overall balance, execution, style and beauty.

Heard only the blacked out, murdered ones are coming to the USA.  But that could be corrected with a bit of red custom paint perhaps, or patience until next year.

Wonder what it is like to ride?  Low seat is a huge plus.  The engine looks incredible, and Piaggio put all the current technology out there.  Wonder if there is an option to add a small fly screen and perhaps a tank or rear bag?  There is always a way.

So, who is buying the new Audace?  Someone on this forum must have the lust.  I know of at least one interested party.

I don't know if I'll be buying one, but I am dying to check one out.  The Audace has tickled my short hairs since I first saw the photos.  From looks alone, it's toward the top of my "new bike" list.  Just waiting for a chance to actually see one and check it out in person.

No thanks, the world has enough cruisers as it is. Unless it's an Eldo.

The pegs, old-school round headlight and bare forks do it for me.  Was pining to ride a custom, but it still looks too much like the other 'power cruisers' on the market... ie: not enough like a guzzi

The Audace took me from "Well, I guess the Cali 1400 Custom is pretty cool.." to "Damn I gotta get an Audace!"

Will I buy a new one off the dealer floor?  Probably not...

But this is the only Cali of any generation I have ever taken a second look at.... Once they start hitting the used market... Well, I' listening

Yep the Audace has some style.  Agree on more classic lines and headlight.  Lovely machine.  Just gorgeous.

Mike at MPH says he should have one set up this week.  Friday I very likely will go swanning in and check the machine out.  We will see if he will let me test ride. Todd tried to get me out on a Cali.

If so, I will share my impressions.  Mike surely will go take it for a run, and maybe we can get him to comment on his experience.

LD-  you really must try the 1400. That engine is very cool. Very smooth, even though it has enough torque to ripple the pavement.

Truer words were never spoken. My new Eldo has way more power on tap than you would imagine.

I'm not sure what "Meh" means, but that'd be my response. Just not a cruiser guy.

Mike at MPH posted he has an Audace and Eldo ready to ride.  I am going for a look Friday morning.  Might brighten my otherwise pretty weird week.

In my not so humble opinion on this point; Guzzi put the wrong headlights on the Eldorado & Audace. Period. Look at'em. Don't even need to think about it. It's obvious at a glance. Who was thinking what? The Eldorado is retro. It's headlight ain't! The Audace is NOT retro. It's headlight is. Both ARE awesome BUT their headlight's are simply, undeniably & emphatically inverted & WRONG.....WHEW! I feel better. Thanks for listening.

Based on the replies to your question it looks like the Audace has some folks ready to make the leap. Personally, if I were to get into the 1400 I'd be going Eldo or Touring, I just couldn't see buying that much bike without putting bags or windscreen on it. If you have a cruiser such as the Audace or Custom and slap a windscreen and bags on it you've just ruined the whole concept. If I had to choose between the Audace and Custom, I like the Custom better, the whole blacked out thing is a trend/fad that is getting pretty stale IMHO. Hope you get a ride in, just make sure to take some photos!

As another 'non-cruiser guy', the Audace actually has me interested.  I love the way the Eldo ride and feels, but it's not my style.  I'm very curious to see how the Audace strikes me.  We're expecting one in the next couple weeks.

All,

Rode to MPH Rand talked with Mike and saw the new Eldo.  Wow the bike is over the top:  white sidewall tires, spokes, and the chrome side tank panels?  Not bad, but not my thing.  He will have another Audace in fairly soon.  Front desk lady (super person and efficient) said she does not like the matt black.  Mike said if I can ride the V7R that the Audace geometry would be ok.  We will find out in due time.

Nice swan about, fast on I 10 and 99 (little goose loves about 80-90 mph).  Little Goose says:  no problem on an OK trip...where the hell is OK anyway, we are from TEXAS...

Not my style.  My youngest son (age 33) loves the look but I don't like flat black motorcycles or automobiles.  But, variety is what makes the world go around so I'm sure they'll find plenty of admirers that like it.

Are just the flat black (tank) coming this year?  How about the Audace with the red/orangish tank?  Any rumors?

After you guys sort them out and depreciation takes its toll, then this may be a worthy successor to my departed Centauro.  Looks good blacked out to me.
