Stelvio Clutch Groan
« on: September 05, 2015, 04:18:11 PM »
I know this has been discussed before but need to know if any Stelvio owners have had their clutch replaced as a result of failure starting with clutch groan . Mine has done it since day one and have 20000 kms on it . Seems to be getting worse over time and my faith is waning . the dealer says Guzzi will pay for the part but not the labor . Similar with you guys ?

Mine has done it from day one too. I now have 22,000 km on it, but it hasn't got worse. It just does it for the first 5 or 6 km, but up to then it's really grabby if you let the clutch in hard and the bike will stall. I've got used to it and I've learnt to use as little gas as possible for the first few kms, and it doesn't groan or stall that way. I'm not going to do anything until the clutch wears out, hopefully many years from now.

I haven't had any issues with the way the clutch operates even when cold just noise and the feeling something is going to give at some point .

One thing about my Stelvio that's perfect.   Light clutch pull, no noise, smooth operation.

Unless I've screwed that up now by bragging about it.

While a lot of earlier Stelvios groan and nothing goes wrong with them there was it seems a run of bad clutches that ended up in 2012 Stelvios. See Shawn's post on his.

I've been following Shawn's post , it's a friggin nightmare ! He was excited when he got the bike and I asked him at the time if the bike had any clutch groan and he said there was none , then out of nowhere all hell broke loose and the bike just out of warranty . He's a good wrench but it's sure been a challenge . I hate to think what the bill would be if he took it to the nearest dealer and would they have done a real thorough job like he has done just finding the bloody broken pieces . I guess time will tell the tale .

Guzzi gave my father a updated clutch assembly but he has to cover the labor.  hHe has his rear drive, ecu, starter, fuel tank and fuel pump all done under warranty, and just had the cam conversion done due to excessive wear.   They should have named the bike a LeMon NTX
