U-Joint disjointed
« on: September 07, 2015, 10:39:08 AM »
The kids are back in school so I took some time and pulled the swingarm on the Eldo.  The U-Joint was in pieces and I know you folks like pictures of broken stuff sooo:

I will be taking a box of assorted T-3 and Eldorado parts for C. Mullandore at Antietam Classic Cycle to pick through to find some combination that will make my '75 Bitza go again.

Making a little racket, was it?

It started to make a cool whizzing sound on deceleration, then some not-so-cool sounds.

The Spanish have a greeting that's as appropriate for "Life" as it is for "Sounds from Your Guzzi":

"Go with God, and may nothing new happen ... "
"Hard pounding, this, gentlemen; let's see who pounds the longest".

It is amazing to me how little racket they make when they are still marginally attached. But that one must have made some obvious crunching sounds.

I felt just a slight tremble on decel, (exactly like I read somewhere on this forum), so I took a closer look..
Caught it early and changed her out.

Good picture!  I put the bike together out of whatever was in the garage at the time so no real idea how many miles were on the drivetrain.  Everything from the transmission back is scrap but I got 16 years of happy motoring out of it so good value for money.
