Help with controlling radiated heat from exhaust system

Hey guys- I'm still not sure what to do-
The Aprilia Shiver has an undertail exhaust that send off a lot of heat.
Most of the heat is generated from the catalytic converter

Here are the options:  I have some high end ceramic insulation and can wrap the cat.  However, I'm afraid that the heat will merely move further downstream and merely make the muffler hotter (under my butt)

I can drill out the cat converter. (cheapest option, but it destroys original equipment)

I can buy a section of mid pipe without the cat. Clean option, yet pricy.

Removing the cat should remove the "creation" of a lot of heat. I just don't know if it will mess with the map. If I wrap the upper end of the mid pipe- I'm hoping to knock down the remaining radiated exhaust gas temp. Any thoughts on this whole project RE cause/effect/result?

Rather than trying to get rid of the heat (after all, burning a given amount of fuel will produce a given amount of heat, regardless), perhaps it would be worth considering putting a shield between the various exhaust components and the seat. Think of the material we all used in chemistry class in high school - your exhaust system can't be much hotter than a Bunsen burner. I've seen some material like this that was not just heat-resistant, but that would not break down due to moisture or other agents...

Carbon fiber exhaust cans will help for a while but any under tail exhaust will get hot. My Ducati 848 was bad and the 1098/1198 were noted for cooking your buns.

The Benelli was great on cold mornings with the stock exhaust. Really hot at other times. I ditched the entire system for the HPE race headers, mid pipe and Ti can. A PCIII richened things up a bit as well. Lean is hot. Heat was greatly reduced. There were heat pads already installed.
