Im in San Berdoo which is about 1/2 west. There is some decent riding. Look up 243 up to Idyllwyld from I-10. You can shoot up that way and take 74 back to Palm Springs. It's nice and scenic till the canyon where it gets super twisty till it dumps you into LaQuinta near El Paseo. It's a pretty fun loop.

Hi Roy

My Buddy has a place in Palm Desert, this spring we rode highway 74 from Palm Desert to San Juan Capistrano on the coast, really nice ride with good sections of twisty and nice scenery. From the coast ride north on highway 1 to Huntington Beach and stop in to see Moe at Cycle Garden and then continue North to Long Beach to visit Mark at Moto Guzzi Classics. We stayed over night in Huntington Beach at the Best Western overlooking the ocean and then after Long Beach we just blitzed back to Palm on the 91 to the 60 onto the I-10 the next day, an easy and enjoyable two day ride.

I am about 50 miles from PS, but I have a very nice Strada with bags that you can use.  I stole it from Chuck in Indiana, and I welcome any guzzi rider in So Cal to ride it with the condition that if you crash it, you bought it. I have liability only on it, but I guess your insurance may cover you.... Great bike, runs great. Needs more miles so I can change the oil again

If you find you have a bunch of time on your hands, follow 111 around the Salton Sea and then 78 back to I-15.  Point your GPS to DeLuz.  Once you are there, turn it off and find your way back home.  Oh yeah, Julian for some really good apple pie.
