You can thank me for the good weather in NE Ohio!
« on: December 10, 2015, 07:04:48 PM »
No sooner had I cleaned up the garage floor after changing oil in the BMW R100GS than the weather forecast for the next few days improved.  Saturday not so much, but tomorrow might be in the mid 50s, and Sunday is forecast to be cloudy/sunny and in the low 60s.

Thank me ..... why?  Because I'd finished winterizing both bikes.  The 1200 Sport and R100GS now both have new oil filters, $15/liter oil, and Stabilized gasoline in their tanks.  So, of course, the weather would improve so either bike can be taken out for an extended late fall ride.

BTW - not complaining ...... simply trying to explain how my winterizing activities influenced the upcoming weather.

Reminds me of one year I was living in Toledo.  I purchased (and convinced a buddy to purchase) a Chrysler SnowRabbit, so we could race them around the snow covered pond in front of our apartments.  You can guess ..... we didn't have a flake of snow all that winter!

Bob

I'm thinking that for the few short months left that we may have winter that "winterizing" may not - will not happen ...

Ride while you can because it will catch up with us.

Well I heard tell it's somebody name of Al Nino who's causing all this spring weather.

If you are also influencing southwestern PA weather, then Thanks!

I have eight bikes and "winterize" seven of them, but this year I've taken the attitude that it just doesn't matter. So what if I put 500 miles on fresh oil? The bike and the oil just don't care . . .

Thanks a lot for this good weather.  I've been ringing the Salvation Army bell as a volunteer at a store in our city and it's a lot nicer at 50/60 degrees than at more seasonal temps.  Also, the shoppers seem to be friendlier and more willing to dig deeper into their pockets/pocketbooks when the weather is pleasant.

Keep up the good work.

No Bob you can thank me for it not snowing yet. I went out and bought a Toro 1028 snow blower, got tired of my little Craftsman working so hard, its just like 9 years ago when I bought a snowmobile, Doh. My barber still has his snowrabbit.

Here ya go.  There's all kinds of videos of these things on YouTube, and more info than you'd ever want if you Google it.

I think the company that liquidated remaining stock was forced to rename it from SnoRunner to SnoRabbit.  These little machines could be taken apart so they could be easily stored in the trunk of a car.  I ice fished at the time, and had planned to use this little rig to get around on the lakes I fished.

Found out quickly I had to resort to carrying a small bernzomatic torch to thaw the pull starter ratchet.  Snow would get into the mechanism and freeze.
