Paging OhioRider
« on: September 25, 2015, 12:41:26 PM »
Just met OhioRIder at the BP gas station in Hartsgrove, OH.  If anyone knows him, tell him his sun glasses tell off his bike.  Nice lady went over got them, and he pick them up at the counter.

Nice meeting you Both!  I'll post pictures of my trip in a few days.

Thanks, Lee.  I'll stop by there next time I'm up that way, which is frequently.  When I discovered they had gone missing, I figured they probably made it as far as the road, where they lay in pieces.
BTW - what a pleasant surprise to run into a fellow Guzzi rider and WG member somewhat off the beaten path.  Enjoy the remainder of your ride.  You're doing what I should have been doing this past week .... namely, gotten out of town!  And Dusty, thanks for reminding me to check WG.

Regards,

Bob,

Trip is done, just over 2100 miles, much of it down the Appalachian range.  Ran smack into a wall of water from that tropical system that flooded portions of SC.  Odd, that we should be careful washing a Guzzi, but we can ride them all day long in a deluge🙆

Had a blast!  Met lots of good, and decent people.  And as usual the EV held up just fine.

So, you are the only Guzzi rider I saw/met. And a neat meeting at that......met a fellow on a 2015 green/cream Indian in Erwin, TN.  Nice guy, and a serious rider, E.C. Newman I believe.

Remember that I was entering my fuel stats when you rolled up?  Well, I came to realize that fuel in the northern climes of Michigan is junk.  I went from a worrisome low of 30mpg to a rewarding 44mpg the further east/south I traveled.

So, the EV is parked and awaits Spring.  I'm back and the Norge needs running.........win ter approaches, and I need another road trip😁👌

Best regards to you and yours!!

Lee,

Glad the remainder of your trip went well.  What were the odds on two Guzzi riders meeting up (a) same time (b) same out of the way place (c)both WG members?  Another Guzzi or two and we could have called it a rally.

Interesting, the difference running on our fine Ohio gas and Michigan's.  Most of our stuff is E10.  Maybe Michigan adds a bit more ethanol (pure speculation on my part.) Maybe in part due to running faster coming south from Sault Ste Marie on I75 and US 23, and slowing the pace on roads like old US6.

Re riding weather winding down .... I've got to break out the e-vest and turn on the bar heaters.  Beautiful morning here, cool, in low 50s, but bright.  I need to get out for a couple hours this morning, since it appears to be going downhill for a few days starting this afternoon.

Retrieving  my sun glasses at the BP station the following day resulted in meeting and talking with an interesting individual who seemed to know the local Britbike history better than anyone I've met in Ohio.  He was riding what appeared to be a well-used but appreciated Suzuki (maybe a GS850) from the 1970s-80s.  He challenged me by asking if I was familiar with his latest bike (a Grom.)  Of course!  Give me a tough question, like how to set timing on a mag ignition BSA per the method described in the owners manual.  We even discussed that topic, and he obviously recalled the particulars better than I did.

Great to meet you on the road!
