I've been meaning to weigh in. VR46 passes nearly the entire field and MM93 doesn't attempt to pass JL99 a single time? This proves what VR46 has been claiming the entire time.

Ciao MM, you are dead to me!

Lorenzo won 7 races this year and lead EVERY SINGLE LAP.

Rossi wanted Honda to gift him the title. They said no. Doh...

If MM managed to pass Lorenzo, Lorenzo would of still won the championship the points would of been equal but Lorenzo has won more races than Rossi. MM had also been hauled over the coals by Dorna after Sepang for taking big risks around championship contenders. To me the deserving rider won the championship.

True, but if MM had passed JL it would have made it far easier for DP to pass him as well.
Especially the way DP was gaining at the end of the race.
VR would have won the championship from 4th place.

Hear, hear!  While I enjoy watching VR, I think you've hit the nail on the head.   JL had the lead almost from start to finish in a whole bunch of races this year, the guy was amazing...it would have been a shame had he not won the championship.  Congrats to him.

I just read MM topped Valencia testing today. He couldn't make a single pass attempt two days ago.

MM held up DP when DP passed him and MM dived back in front. the Hondas didn't have a single problem with fronts tires then 3/4 thru the race. MM didn't attempt to try and pass JL he'd get close and drop back not even showing a wheel.

I hope next year the rest of the paddock shows the punk MM how to be more respectful and give him a few bumps and slides offs.
I use to like MM for his talent and skills but his tactics are over the top.

<SNIP>

Actually, if you look at the video, DP overtook MM, but he went into the corner too hot and ran wide. MM stayed inside and DP came alongside when attempting to get back on the racing line. DP had no choice but to fall in behind and the challenge was over.
MM never 'dived in front'. He was on normal line.
If you read DP's comments afterwards, this is how it happened. That's racing for you  :boozing:

EDIT to add:

Here is DP comment:

“I started to recover and at the same time they were a little bit dropping the pace and I catch and I checked my board and there was two laps to go only. I attacked, but maybe because of the recovery I was still too hot [tyres] and I didn't settle my mind so well,” he said.

“I entered the turn and ran wide and Marc could pass me again but I am very happy because although it is third place, I take home this attitude because of the way of finishing this season – the progression of it and overcoming this hard situation in this year, which was really tough."

Pedrosa requested if he could have passed JL (without MM counterpass).
Answer: "Yes".

That's his style of driving. He is very strong on the pace. His nickname "Martillo" comes from the ability of "hammering" the same time lap after lap.
On the other side, to obtain this this, all has to be perfect. He was behind in the standing until the last race cause he ended the races out of the podium more times than Rossi did.

If the race was another four laps longer, Pedrosa barely caught MM on the last or second last lap he got one pass in and then ran wide. Watching with the commentators talking Pedrosa up as he made the final charge to me was a little cringe worthy at the rate he was cutting the gap, it was about 2 laps late for him to bother JL. I think it was about .3 of a second not fast enough to simply blast past all those in front of him it would of needed to be calculated and lined up a lap or two in advance, there just weren't that many laps left in the race.

He was by far the fastest even in sunday's warm-up.

Of the four top riders, Pedrosa raced consistently faster than in the warm-up. Lorenzo did the same times, Rossi was two tenths slower (on fourth lap, when he was passing the other riders), MM four tenths slower.

That was the answer of the pilot. Comments are personal.

The season is over.  It didn't end on a 'sweet' note regardless of who was crowned... and everyone of us here has an opinion as to why. Was it the Spanish vs the Italians, was it the old guard vs the new era, was it a vendetta by a pup who got smacked twice by the old dog when being too pushy, was it VR pointing out (in public) the emperor's attire? Speculation abounds. The next season is likely Rossi's last in MotoGP. He has a contract to finish; then that is that. This year was his best hope to retire with 10 top titles and he didn't hit that mark.
Yet.
Next year offers a new and final chance to prove through his riding that he truly is a champion's champion. The standards are changing for everyone from grid 1 to grid 28. They will all be on new tires from a new manufacturer and everyone will share similar electronics. ~ the powerhouse of money is being leveled.
The true cream will rise to the top. Should be an interesting schedule.

One may write one's destiny but the unknown delivers it.
