99 Bassa New Windscreen
« on: December 25, 2015, 08:35:22 AM »
Merry Christmas All! Saw the thread 'what did you do for your Guzzi this Christmas'.......I looked for a bit for a fairing for a 99 Bassa and am posting photos for the database. The archives suck here and many photos are gone in the threads (as will these be sooner or later), or screen brand is not identified. It's a challenge picturing a particular bike with a  particular fairing without looking at someone else's, or at least I found it so.

I don't intend on touring the bike so my needs were relative simple, decrease wind on the chest and not look too much like an after the fact add-on. Easy removal a plus as well.  I ended up looking at National Cycle models on the lower size scale. Cut out cardboard templates to get an idea of size to a degree, and was leaning towards the very smallest model(s). One of my major requirements was that it not be too tall such that I couldn't adjust it to look over the top of the screen.

I ended up going with the larger Street EX model in large part that I thought the rounded profile for the headlight might make it look more like it was designed for the bike. They don't state the radius of the fairing headlight, but you can see it matches fairly well.

I haven't even tried it out yet given the weather here and she being a garage queen to the Nth degree. Anyway, just wanted to post some reference photos for the next guy headed down this path...For what it's worth, Dean

Looks OK to me, if it gives the protection you are wanting once you test it on the road, what is not to like. As far as the archives lacking in content, all it takes is time and $. There is a donation tab at the top of the main page for those who appreciate this site. Most of us will try to kick in a few bucks to Luap now after the first of the year.

I like that shape a lot.  I just bought a new screen for the OEM "Sport" windshield hardware on my 04 Stone Touring, but I must say your National Cycle screen looks better.

I had the exact same Steet EX set up on my Bassa.  Like yours, it looked great, I really liked being able to pop in on and off in just a couple minutes.  I'm very tall, 6'6" with a long torso, and I could never get it adjusted enough to get my head out of the buffeting.  However, if your not a freak of nature, you may find it works very well for you!  Good luck and enjoy.
