Still waiting to hear something back from Piaggio, not holding my breath, but in the meantime I am also assessing my options.

If Piaggio does not cover anything, (I'm still waiting to hear either way) I will have to buy the Cams AND the special tools to fix it. Im told the issue is with the a higher-up in Cali. I hope that's a good sign, but I'm not holding my breath.

My local dealer does not have the kit.  So if there is a dealer (preferably, but not necessarily, east of the Mississippi, that already has the tools in their repertoire, the money I might save could go toward the repair -and I could have the dealer do it. If that's you, please PM me. 

In the meantime, I might pull the sump and examine the oil pump, before I spend any money on the cam parts. It might be OK given the low mileage of this bike, but I'd better check.

There are a couple of people on the forum that have the special tools and may be willing to lend them.
I personally would make an effort to get the hydraulic motor fixed. I liked the power curve from that system.
Did you try to get one per my recommendation in the other thread?

If you mean a hydro, I didn't follow your recommendation. I bought the one that was parked at 1250 miles for a valve tick. Guzzi said it wasn't covered so the owner parked it. The VIN should be covered following their technical bulletin but it never showed up on their computer database as needing a recall. It has the heavier clutch so I figured I'd try to straighten it out. To this day Guzzi doesn't recognize this particular one as a problem motor, but we now know better. So I will see what they say, then try to fix it.

I believe the suggestion Wayne is referring to was to call MPH cycles and see if they still had any hydro kits available.  This issue came up in the spring and MPH had multiple kits on-hand and at a reasonable price.

Yes, this. MPH may still have some kits. Worth a call.

They are available by special order for $1750. Mph has none on the shelf. One dealer did offer to lend me the tool set with a healthy return deposit, and that's very helpful.

 A kind fellow on this forum was able to source a cam kit for me but the kit seems to be missing  a  quantity of 4  1.0 mm valve caps part number G000130372000 (as per the included kit instructions). My area Guzzi dealer has not been able to source individual kit parts other than gaskets and filters, but they're still working on it.  Anyone else helpful here and I would be all set and blessed! Maybe there is an updated post-recall fiche or better part number for the individual part. Dunno. Any help appreciated! Thanks

I found them. The full washer set is available for a total cost of $3.10 but those tricky Italians want $35.00 shipping! Whatever.

Sounds like you are getting closer to what you need.
Do you have the instructions for the kit?
Does the kit include all of the shims? I have a nearly complete set of shims if you need a few.
DO inspect the pump.

I am getting close. I found a couple sources for shims, but nothing on hand yet. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks!

You can probably find a used V11 Sport motor to put in your Cali and do the refinishing bits to it for less than to fix your hydro cams . I'm pretty sure you can put that mill in there just not the 6 speed gear box .. Plus wouldn't it perform much better?

We got one in the shop this week, Aluminum w/15K on the clock, a collapsed lifter, 1/8" gap at rocker. !st noise it has made, didn't know about the campaign.

When I see a hydro come up on Ebay I always ask the question with regard to the cam update in hopes it gets posted in the Q&A.  Most sellers say something like "no known recalls" or crap like that to cover themselves.

Get them while they're hot, 2 kits left at warehouse and 1 is mine.  Approval is another thing, 10yrs is long enough, they will be calling it quits here shortly.   I would think after the kits are gone again.
