Because it was a hugely popular pagan holiday with an evergreen tree, yuletide logs and sparkly decorations. Then the Christian church decided to try and convert pagans and redirect many pagan traditions?

 The harvest taxes would have been due after the harvesting was done. About September.

Very cool.  I seemed to remember the Eldo pic was from the Garden Cycle site.  I love their site and that bike  :wink: does it for me.

What is the story behind the guy blowing the horn with the two old timers?  I found that pic so interesting I printed a copy and hung it on my wall.  Very cool to have met him and hopefully to learned some of the story - please share.

Merry Christmas to all my Guzzi friends.  2015 has been a heck of a ride.

The girls are about ready to finish preparing a prime rib, mashed garlic potatoes, and spinach.  I will open a very, very fine bottle of California Cabernet Sauvignon, and dessert will be a carrot cake. 

Girls drink me under the table.  Fun and loud times.  We had a fabulous Christmas, and I am very grateful.

60 degrees!     Long sleeve T-shirt under the Aerostich and non-insulated gloves on Christmas -- that's a first for me!
