V11 Lemans Fairing on V11 Sport?
« on: January 10, 2016, 08:44:37 AM »
Just from some cursory searches on here I saw that perhaps a couple folks (Greg Field, for one) have mounted V11 Lemans fairings to V11 Sports.  I just wonder what all must be done to do this?

It's a bolt on deal.

Lots of unobtainum parts and pieces.

Buying a complete LeMans would be quicker/easier.

Thanks, Mike, for entertaining my little Sunday morning inquiry.  So something like this, where the fairing seems to be complete with mount arms and such, would "likely" still need some rare bits and pieces for proper mounting?  http://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/131678116333

If it really had all the brackets, it would be a deal at that price.

What year sport are you thinking of modding ?

Just can't seem to get my Winter mind off a Lemans/spine frame Guzzi lately.  Gorgeous bikes to my eyes, one and all.  Have always loved them as per looks go.  Fantastic Tenni on Swap right now.  But I also love that green on the 2000 Sport with the red frame and such, hence my curiouso here.

If you're serious about adding the fairing, I suggest you move quickly on that e-bay one.

If you are uncertain about it, I suggest you move quickly on that e-bay one. You will be able to resell it if you change your mind, but you will have a hard time finding another.

Edit:
You might contact TLM directly. They have already dismantled that bike. In addition to the fairing, you will need:
1) a headlight bucket that has a molded spot for the headlight height adjuster bracket.
2) black plastic upper inner panel - like a dash
3) black plastic lower inner panels - that surround the forks and keep air from being force up into the fairing.
4) Fairing mounted mirrors - the mirror studs go through the fairing and secure to the top two holes on the fairing bracket.
5) LH and RH brackets from rocker covers to rear of fairing
6) bunch of fasteners and rubber compression fittings

I have a spare adjuster bracket and a couple of the plastic panels from a wreck I bought, but it was a front-end crash so I don't have everything. Let  me know if you come up short on the required parts and I will see if I can supplement for you.

I did this swap on my '03 Sport.  As Mike says, it's a bolt on deal but be SURE you get all the pieces of the fairing, the headlight, and the fairing and instrument brackets.  If you have to buy these bits (if you can find them), you would have been better off buying a Le Mans in the first place.

I have the factory flyscreen on my Sport.

I find the airflow acceptable for 400 mile a day trips (my legs are different story).  I haven't ridden a half fairing LeMans, it would be interesting to compare the two.

And of course there the beautiful Magni kit.  I understand the bars are quite low.

The V11 LeMans fairing works really well. I have over 40,000 miles experience with it.

A little noisy, but the air is smooth.  Really good weather protection, considering it's a half-fairing.

I don't know that I'd take the trouble to add one to an unfaired bike, though.

A BMW R90 fairing works well. Let me know if you start the project, and I can hook you up with one.
