Do Guzzi's and Beemers mix?

I've got two Guzzis and several Beemers in my garage.   They all seem to get along just fine.

Back to the spirit of the thread...I normally choose to ride alone, but it's more to do with being picky about riding partners than being alone. Too many riders scare me with the way they ride...not paying attention and taking chances. I want to be the only one involved in my crash, thank you!

I figure riding in a group or with someone else is a bit like playing tennis...not entirely an apropos analogy, but parts of it are.

Sure, one can play by oneself (and hit the ball against the wall, or practice serves etc.), but it's also nice to play a real game from time to time...not that riding by oneself isn't real.

But if you find compatible riders, and they do have to be compatible in terms of skill, riding ability, risk aversion or desire, interest to explore, how often they stop to pee and eat,  and perhaps a few other factors, then the experience is one to be shared and enjoyed and is a different yet equally enjoyable way of riding.  Some times are for solitary rides, some days are for group (1-4 riders) rides.  Simply writing off riding with others to me seems more an indication of either a lack of available compatible riding partners, or just being truly solitary by nature and / or perhaps not searching wide enough to find compatible riders.

Or the possibility exists that some of us ride alone because no one else will tolerate us

With the right dudes a small group can be really fun. I recall a "spritely" little group ride down near Nashville Ar. It was fun until we topped a hill and saw :copcar: just so happens, the two in the front of the pack got to go free Willie while those bringing up the rear got a souvenir from the natural state. Luckily it was just a warning. We had plenty to laugh about 'round the campfire that night :thumb:

To each their own, just not my "thing"

I WILL NOT go on a group ride that resembles a parade of leather clad pirates.

No mistaking us for a parade that day  Actually there were three in the group that "got away"
included our fearless leader , obviously he doesn't really care about his flock

I have ridden hundreds of thousands of miles by myself. A good riding buddy is hard to come by. My number one riding buddy (Gary Schweers ) enjoyed my company for 25 or 30 thousand. Haven't replaced him yet.
Cookie would like for me to find a replacement for him, but it ain't easy.
