G&G Deep Sump External Oil Filter Kit

Just received this: http://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68_162&products_id=4586 from MG Cycle. It did not come with instructions but looks simple enough to install. Has anyone done one of these? Anything I need to know so I won't start swearing? Also, it did not come with a new oil dipstick. Do I need to spend more $$$ on a longer one?

All I can tell you is that it is very well made. True machinist porn. I will have to rattle can mine with a coat of HT zinc chromate primer and a topcoat of HT wrinkle black to match the engine case. The price seems high but it is a deep sump and an external filter so only one gasket is needed, so less chance for leakage.

If it was me I'd be fitting an oil level window to it. Looks nice though.

 I looked at that one but it's for pre 1998 big block motors. Mine is a 2003. In addition the one I chose looks deeper and holds more oil.

I bought one for the Jackal (from a different supplier), but returned it as I had a couple of concerns and not being an engineer I didn't feel like taking any chances.

The smaller diameter oil (holes?)in the pan were 0.5m smaller diameter than the stock pan and the large one was 2mm smaller.

The pan fitted ok,  but when the relief valve was installed it hit on a gallery in the crankcase meaning the fasteners didn't quite line up. Probably shaving a bit off somewhere would have helped  but...?

This led me to think that there are some differences between the 1000 and 1100 Calis (that this apparently fits). Certainly the 1100 has a  larger stock oil filter than the one supplied with this item.

I wonder will the stock sump from my 2007 1100 Griso bolt on/ fit a 2007 1100 Cali Vintage ?
same engine ?
