January Thaw
« on: February 01, 2016, 01:44:45 PM »
And then, all of a sudden, after 37 days of snow and ice covered roads, it warmed up and rained.
So..........I took the bikes out for a salt bath.

January 31st 2016 - Nuovo Falcone

February 1st 2016 - Eldorado
(showing Doug his spots installed)

Oddly enough, I didn't see any other bikes - but then, I didn't see much traffic either (he said, smugly )

In the 4th picture down, I think my maximum speed was about 10mph. There was about 1/2 inch of soggy gravel sitting on the frozen gravel road bed.
It was really squirrely - underwear changing stuff.

Must be one of those weirdos goes out and kicks the remaining snow around the yard in order to get to mowing early. :boozing:

I remember trying to use a TT500 and my Norton through much of a Ft Devens, Massachusetts winter. I had let the reg/ins slide on my Olds and Scout as I was out of the country a lot while maintaining the Norton's for its low cost (Guzzi content) and the TT was a non-factor.

Any given ride - everything was fine as I could stand it but it was always the unseen ice that did me dirty. In your case though, that low slung weight and the tractability of that engine would go a long way towards making it considerably more rewarding than simply the saving of money.

My health care being "free" at the time became an issue eventually as I was threatened with any serious injury, while behaving irresponsibly, as potentially being deemed "line of duty: NO"

I was like a frikken rolling Weeble that year. What excellent training for balance.
