Stelvio guards for 1200 Sport/Norge?
« on: March 14, 2016, 12:29:15 PM »
Did a search and did not find info I need. I want hand guards for both bikes, the Sport has Mana bars no throttlemiester, the Norge has stock bars and a Throttlemeister, any feedback would be appreciated.

The package can be ordered from Moto International or other top-tier dealers. It will include the guards, mounting kit parts, and new bar ends. I don't know about the Sport, but on my Norge (with heavy Throttlemeister) I used a combination of the spacers from the Throttlemeister setup and the new ones. I also used a combination of rubber washers (left side) and SS washers with rubber ones (right side). The SS washers are placed to allow the Throttlemeister to turn with the proper level of friction. You are likely to have to obtain slightly longer mounting screws and re-adjust the internal friction and spacing washers of the right side Throttlemeister, just as in a new installation.

If the Sport has bar ends similar to the Norge or Stelvio stock ones, then just use the new ones in the kit and the supplied mounting hardware. Easy...

Thanks, the 1200 Sport (thankfully) has Mana bars. I suspect Moto International can help there too.
I tried AF1 Racing first, they have nothing, I forgot about Moto Int.

I would greatly appreciate you posting how much a setup like that for a Norge with Throttlemeister would cost (roughly) when you find out. I was unaware you could make it work with a Throttlemeister👍!

The Stelvio handguards work perfectly with the 1200 Sport wearing Mana bars.

If you have trouble figuring out how, ping on this thread and I'll list the stack of parts required to keep the Throttlemeister working. It basically involves a SS collar, longer SS machine screw, some SS washers and some thin rubber washers. The SS washers allow a low-friction surface so the Throttlemeister can still be turned.

"ping"? Sorry no comprendo. It's been six years since I installed my Throttlemeister, I'm sure I've got the instructions here somewhere. Thanks in advance for the list.

Stay safe, John

"Ping" - a brief note of reminder

Parts list is not for the Throttlemeister, but to show what parts you'll need when adding the Stelvio guards to that setup. I'll see if I can pull together a list and description of how to stack the parts.

Actually Ping is a test of a network. First used in hard wired phone systems and picked up later by IT folks to do a round trip testof  their networks. We first started using the term because it was similar in use to sonar ping.

As an IT guy going back to when networks were invented, I know what the origin is - I was just explaining the colloquialism!
