Stelvio NTX For Sale -- Sold
« on: March 10, 2016, 02:12:36 PM »
OK Guys, time for me to stop procrastinating and start the process of selling my 2012 Stelvio NTX (Cool Orange, of course).

I bought the bike in June, 2012 from Rose Farm Classics in Woodstock, IL.  Since then it has accumulated 32.4K miles, mostly on long distance touring and camping trips.  It's seen the Four Corners area in the SW, been to our neighbor to the North and many places in between.  It has always been a dependable, comfortable, fun bike to ride.  It has been upgraded and improved with several necessary changes and has just this winter gone through another 6K mile maintenance and adjustment check over.  It comes with the normal NTX accessories (the Fog Lights have been changed to LEDs) and is available without the Trax Rear Cases (at a significant reduction in price) if the buyer has other cases he prefers to use.

My reason for selling is straight forward -- when it's loaded, the bike is getting a bit heavy for me to comfortably manage and I don't want to drop it.  It's that simple.

If interested, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send pictures of the bike explaining the various details.  I also encourage a call to Jim Barron at Rose Farms to get his opinion and knowledge of the bike.

Good luck with the sale.  You going with a lower cg of a bike?

No, not particularly.  I wanted to move to an overall lighter bike.  The R1200R in my signature is a legitimate 100# lighter than the Stelvio and 100# is a big deal.

On the road I carry clothes, etc in the rear cases and tent, sleeping equipment on the passenger's seat and miscellaneous stuff in the top case.  It's the same either on the Stelvio or R Bike.  The reduction of 100# just means the overall package is that much lighter and easier to handle, particularly in slow speed riding.

I just want a package I can comfortably manage without fear of dropping it while on the road.  That's the reason for the change.

Edit:  One question that has been asked is whether my bike has roller tappets.  The answer is Yes, it has roller tappets from the factory.

Edit #2:  One additional clarification -- although I bought the bike in Woodstock, IL, we live in Indiana, about 45 miles south of Indy.  I'm one of the "Indiana Chuck's".

The R1200R sounds like a reasonable approach to sticking with a shaft drive twin that isn't quite as heavy (or tall) as the Stelvio.  Plus, you already own it!  I can only imagine that your Stelvio has been treated with kid gloves.  It's obvious, you like your bikes and treat them well.

Best wishes,

Bob

Thanks for all the good words guys.  I appreciate your comments.

Good news!!  I have a commitment from a fellow Guzzi rider to buy the Stelvio.  We'll work the final transfer out in the next week or so.  I'm hopeful he is as happy with it as I have been.

Ride safe.  Shortly, I'll be down to just one bike and, unbelievably, it's a Beemer.

I know you must have had mixed emotions about selling the Stelvio.  I've read your posts over the past several years about the rides and rallies you've attended on this bike.  However, I think your Beemer will serve you well.  She's a shaftie, a twin cylinder, and though she exhibits 'character' in a different manner, she's a well-thought out bike.  Best wishes for another gazillion miles!

Don't think that was even on the table , in fact there was some mention of expecting a fresh service and a full tank of gas

The nerve I tell you...

P.S. Royal Blue sounds just fine - sounds like the wilder colors will be off the table this year!
