There was one on the floor at Winchester Motorsports in Clear Brook, VA when I stopped in on Wednesday. IIRC, it was $3995.

While you don't see many of the Breva 750 for sale, these prices are insane.  The on in the SF Bay Area  ($4,200) has been for sale for almost a year!  I sold mine a 2004 with 26k miles, 40L bags, two screens and new tires (not mounted) for $2,500. I had it listed on and off for 4 months!  The guy I sold it to will be moving this Spring and not taking the bike, so it should go for 2300, let me know if interested he lives down the street?  $4,200 for a Breva 750, that is Norge pricing IMHO. While I miss mine, I was always fearful that the 04 was going to grenade the shift lever spring, as others have noted no easy fix.

I don't know of any shift lever spring breaking. The problem was in the early pre-selector fork, which could and would jam up inside it's casing. My 2003 model had the later fork fitted, which had been modified over the earlier pattern.  Must admit that it still jammed.   Nick Webb had a 2004 Breva and that was fitted with the earlier pattern. Go figure!   More:rolleyes:

In my case I think that the actual case was distorted. When Steamdriven and myself took it out we could get it to jam but could not actually see why it would. The 2nd hand one that Pete Roper supplied has been bullet proof.

Missed that thread; happened when I was on holiday.

If the problem is centreing, then it could be the bolt head on top of the box. Nick suggested actually marking it's position so the lever  went back in the centre. I have just looked at Nick's photo and it shows that the fork is not actually in the centre.

Yes, the spring is a fundamental orifice to get at. The early pattern pre-selector fork will actually come out without disturbing the gear train (as per Signor Whitegloves method. The new one won't.

I must add that in spite of the gearbox problems I had I could not bring myself to sell the Breva. I have only one bike and it does everything I ask of it; have owned it for 12 years now. They really are, to quote johnr, "an absolute jewel".

Today I went with my son and his mate for a quick squirt to Akaroa, about 120 miles return. Son was on his 1200 Sporty, his mate a 2014 Triumph Speedmaster. Both bikes are bigger and more powerful than mine. Guess which one was the most enjoyable in the twisties?  Guess which one pulled away going up the hills (while keeping an eye out that they did not drop too far behind)?

I agree Muzz, the Breva is  back in my garage, just for storage for now, but who knows.  It is a great bike, but as much as I like it, just can't justify it given my recent retirement.
