Dream realized:  moto only parking.



A year ago after I bought the STRX I concluded:  dang, I want a 3 car garage.  That kicked off serious discussions with Ms. LD, talk with friend, neighbor, realtor, looking and finally putting a deposit on the current villa.  We moved in exactly a month ago.  Life has been hellish with huge costs, manual labor, endless contractor activity and such since December though.  But, we are 80% thru the hard parts.  Now the upside is appearing, per the pix of my moto-only garage.  Man, it is sweet and I had a storage system and work bench installed.  Might add an AC to make it a total man-cave for the summer months.

Took the Trumpet out for a 150 mile spin here and there and swan-about.  Not too hot, not too cold, no rain, a bit of wind.  Fantastic ride on a phenomenal machine.  Damn fun.  I explored some of the high end today:  8-10K rpm.  Man, she is fast.  I think I am a better rider on the Triumph due to the handling and braking.  The upright geometry is easier on my back than the V7R.  Corners amazing. Each bike are just their own particular joys. Guzzi gets rolled Sunday:  either to church and ride with buddy Ed, or perhaps a group heading NW?  Ed may have his new Corvette C7, if so, he is priority and it is his 70th birthday to boot.

Naked bikes and high wind and high speeds make for some interesting sensations and handling.  The Triumph is twitchy, so staying relaxed is crucial.  The seat slopes down just a bit, and at speeds above 50 or so:  perfect balance of wind blast and body--no stress.  A good helmet with aerodynamics is a must though.  The Dart windscreen on the Guzzi blocks a lot of wind blast.  I may look around again for a similar option for the Triumph.  Dunno.

Thinking about the retirement vehicle.  Still need to do more unpacking as half of the double garage periodically fills and empties with empty flattened cardboard boxes as we work through the mass of brown boxes everywhere.  Have not even touched the upstairs and the office and formal dining are also untouched.  So, no buying more wheels until I can use that garage space.  Practical or fun?  If I go for fun I need to be patient to find just the right car.  Still would love to see that new Fiat roadster-not sure when the arrive.

Spring is here full force on the Gulf Coast of TEXAS.  Green as can be, farmers working their fields, lots of birds migrating and baby cows that will some day grace my Tiki grill and make for some fine steaks with spuds.  We have about six to eight weeks left of cool weather until the summer slams us like a blowtorch with humidity.  But, Colorado beckons as I am retired my friends.  I think I have passed into a new retirement phase with the house move.  Busy, but focused on some dreams.  Still have a lot of those dreams to start enjoying. 

Spring will come to the north too.  For now, stay chilly and keep dreaming of that first ride.  Wow, riding is fun.  Live life to the fullest.  I am reminded of that as we have Grandpa Larry here, his Alzheimer's is vicious--he has had a huge drop since October.

Someday, I hope to have a garage again. Until then, I park my bikes under an overhang, out in the elements...

Way too much open space. Might I suggest you buy several more bikes as filler. A bike only garage isn't to capacity unit you have to move 3 or 4 bike out of the way to get to the one you want to ride. If you don't fill the space with motorcycles and related stuff soon enough lawn furniture, lawn equipment and crap from the wife's side of the house will be cluttering up your area.

Sweet!!!


I've run the gamut from no garage, to detached dirt floor barn,  to single car/under porch concrete tomb, to my current oversized 2-car (that squeezes in 2 cars, bike lift, and up to 4 bikes). But someday I'm gonna either get 3 full bays or extend this another 5-10' for more room.

Dusty and all:

You are welcome at our Italian Villa anytime, and that is serious, no shit and for real.  The Tiki patio-bar is now open and functional.  You might have to cope with some boxes here and there and of course the poodles, but they like stinky biker jeans.

I am grateful for this phase of life.  Still I am baffled at times how fortunate I am.  The couple months of high physical activity have resulted in more weight loss and core strength.  All good.  This summer could and should be phenomenal.  I have travel plans. 

More bikes?  Thought about it.  A light touring bike?  That MV August is a sweet thingy, but the BMW RT 800 would be a better choice for a small guy like me.  Thought about trying my rear bags on the Triumph, it actually would be a pretty good long distance machine except for wind blast.  Seriously though the new Trumpet Bonnie T 120 swings my head, but have yet to see one.

Weeeeellllllll, looks like we need to plan the 1st ANNUAL SUGARLAND TEJAS NAR AND POODLE CAMPOUT! That barn is probably a lot nicer than the one at cedar vale, Kansas! And we can all go to the mucky duck for some live entertainment. Maybe a toga party would be fitting? p-a-r-t-y!!!!!!
