Helmet and Breva 1100 Windshield Suggestions Requested
« on: March 16, 2016, 09:59:17 PM »
It is time for a new helmet. The last three have been Arais (Signet & Profile 'cause they fit my head so well).
I'm looking for a good helmet, but I would like a quiet helmet (I'm sure that the factory screen on my Breva 1100 doesn't help).

Any suggestions before I go buy a new Arai Signet-Q Pro-Tour?
Schuberth?
I know that it's all suggestive, but I'm open to all opinions.

And while I'm asking for opinions, any comments about windshields from Parabellum vs.Eagle Screens in Australia if I'm trying to reduce the wind noise on the Breva? Removing the windshield completely is fine in July and August, but not so good this time of the year.

I tried 4 different make/model screens on my Breva 1100. I also modded the factory screens a few ways. I settled on the tall Parabellum. If I crank up the preload on the shock, the wind hits the very top of my helmet. If I back off the preload some, my helmet is out of the wind.

With the Eagle shield, wind was hitting the upper part of the face shield on my helmet. Unless something has changed, the Eagle screens do not come with mounting brackets. You have to use the brackets from the Guzzi factory screen.

I'm about 6'1" with a long trunk and very long arms. I'm also over 300 lbs and my helmets are size 3XL Shoei's.

I've got a standard screen

The best position for mine is with it fully raked back and with a 1/2" gap all the way round between the headlight and the screen

If the screen is tight to (but not touching) the light I get buffeting

I found that out after drying the clocks out and moving the screen down to limit any water being driven into them when its raining.

Everything I've tried from Parabellum has been excellent. Get the right height and their Sport Shield should work very well...

I'm about 5'-11" with a 32" to 33" inseam.

Great windshield info.
